About

Our Story

Viewing AreaIn 1985 Ralph P. Vertuccio, Jr., realized his dream by opening the doors of Vertuccio Funeral Home.  Mr. Vertuccio studied at Providence College and New England Institute, where he attained an Associates degree in Funeral Service.  At that time he was serving as an Apprentice Funeral Director at the R.C. Kirby Funeral Home in East Boston.

Upon graduating and becoming a Licensed Funeral Director, Mr. Vertuccio went to work at the Pike Funeral Home in Revere in 1969.  Mr. Vertuccio worked and managed for over 16 years the, then “Pike & Vertuccio Funeral Home”.  Then in 1985, Mr. Vertuccio opened the Vertuccio Funeral Home.  Ralph is a life-long Bostonian and an enthusiastic supporter of numerous local civic programs and charitable organizations.  Ralph has always maintained a meticulous attention to detail business.  Ralph has always taken the utmost pride in his commitment to help families coping with loss and resultant service without parallel in the industry.

In 1998, The Vertucccio Home for Funerals (Ralph), welcomed Danny S. Smith to begin his apprenticeship.  Like Ralph, Mr. Smith (Dan) is also a life-long Bostonian and holds an Associates degree from F.I.N.E. Mortuary College in Funeral Science and a Bachelor of Science from Endicott College in Business Management.  Under the careful tutelage of Mr. Vertuccio, Dan has become a top Funeral Director and a force in his own right in the industry.  He along with his wife Patricia and their two young boys Justin and Matthew are ever grateful for the opportunity to serve the families of Revere and Eastern Massachusetts.  Both Ralph and Dan share a conviction that superior funeral service is comprehensive and seek to help each family cope with loss while individually tailoring services to honor and celebrate their loved one’s life.

In November 2009, Ralph and Dan closed the doors of Vertuccio Funeral Home in order to complete a dramatic renovation, shortly thereafter, the doors opened to begin a new chapter and a brand new Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, Inc. with Danny S. Smith at the helm.  The beautiful streamlined interior and updated exterior of the Home only hint at the comprehensive restructured, efficient and modern operation of new ownership, while maintaining its guiding principals and core values.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
