Angelo S. Moschella

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, March 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE, for Ret. Revere Deputy Fire Chief Angelo S. Moschella, who died most unexpectedly while on vacation in Inverness, Florida, on Tuesday, February 28th at his Florida residence. His funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 9th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), REVERE at 11:00 a.m., and immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Revere, Deputy Chief Moschella, was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1942. He entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1943 and served until February of 1946, as a Motor Machinists Mate-lst Class. He would later return to school & succeed as a mechanical engineer. His citations from the U.S. Navy included, WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Amphibious Force Insignia: Asiatic-Pacific Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal. He entered the Revere Fire Department in 1950 and worked his way to the position of Deputy Fire Chief. Considering the times and the preferences against Italian American candidates, the accomplishment as a Deputy Fire Chief was considered almost impossible. He would serve the Fire Department for over 35 years. Both Deputy Chief Moschella & his late beloved wife Antoinetta R. “Netta” (Casella) Moschella, were for many years, devotees of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community. “Netta” passed on June 4, 2015. Deputy Chief Moschella & “Netta” sustained an overwhelming grief, on April 5, 2004, when God called their “Robbie”, a special needs angel, back home to heaven. Although, Robbie was just 37 years, he left a resounding mark on not only their lives, but many many lives across the city and state. The Moschella’s maintained their active membership with the Revere Special Needs program, until their deaths.

Mr. Moschella is the devoted father to Dr. William A. Moschella, DMD & his wife Eileen of Lynn, M. Linda Doherty & her husband Russell E. of Revere & the late Robert S.”Robbie” Moschella. He is the cherished grandfather of William A. Moschella Jr. of Minneapolis, Mn., Justin A. Moschella of Tampa, Fl., Keri-Ann Brugge & her husband Matthew of Eau-Claire, Wisconsin, Brian R. & Jason M. Doherty, both of Revere. Dear brother of Sarah T. Riley of Revere & the late Revere Fire. Cpt. Michael Moschella, Lena Pitrone, Anthony Moschella, Margaret Dipietro, Gerard & Carmine Moschella. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
