Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, September 25th, 2013 from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Joseph L. Hanscom, who died on Wednesday, September 18th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, at 35 years.  A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, September 26th at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born & raised in Revere, he attended Revere schools & the Vocational High School.  Joseph had been in the construction field as a welder for most of his working career.  He is the beloved son of: Roger D. Hanscom & Debra J. (Iovine) of Revere.  He is the devoted brother of Jennifer A. Duggan & her husband Patrick, & Roger D. Hanscom & his wife Kristen, all of Revere.  He is the loving grandson to: Edith L. (Kingsbury) Iovine & her late husband Louis R. Iovine, of Revere & Hollywood, FL.  He is the dear uncle of Tyler J. & Jaxson P. Duggan, Ryan J., Khloe K., & Kasey K. Hanscom.  He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, & cousins.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, One Bulfinch Place, Boston, MA 02114-2031.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
