Robert P. Love

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 10th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Robert P. Love, who passed following a lengthy illness on Monday, March 6th at Anna Jaques Hospital of Newburyport. His Funeral Liturgy will be conducted on Saturday, March 11th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 85 Lake St., West Peabody. Family & friend are asked to report directly to Church on Saturday morning.

Born in Tampa, Florida, the family came to live in Revere when “Bobby” was a young boy. Raised & educated in Revere, he was an alumnus of Revere High school, Class of 1951. In June of 1952, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict until June of 1956, as a Staff Sgt. Upon returning to Revere, he continued with his education at Suffolk University and completed his courses at Boston State Teachers’ College. He would end his education with three Master’s degrees in Education. His career within the Revere School system was from 1960-1995. Most folks would remember him as an English professor & then finally a physical education instructor. He would complete his time in Revere, as Assistant Principal at the “New” Garfield Middle School, where he formally retired in 1995. He had a love for the classroom and especially his niche as an English teacher. However, administration and all that went with it-not so much.” He had a large & warm personality, as so very many from school and St. Vasilios would attest.

He is he devoted husband of 66 years to Antigone E. (Fanikos) Love of Merrimac & formerly of Revere. He is the cherished father to James R. Love & his wife Laura of New York City, NY, William P. Love of Wenham, Ma., Thomas M. Love & his wife Cindi of Mission Viejo, California, Helen Delaney & her husband Todd of Standish, Maine & the late Patricia A. “Patty” Love. He is the dear brother of Richard S. Love & his wife Roberta of Canton. He is the most Proud Grandfather to ten loving Grandchildren. “Bob” was the quintessential Dad and Papa, and loved and reflected in that role. On April 16th,2005, Bobby & Antigone sustained “the nightmare of every parent”, the loss of their brilliant, intensely lovable daughter, Patricia A. “Patty” at only 46 years. They lived & lived through this Cross with the strength of their Greek Orthodox faith & the support of so many family, friends and extended family & friends. The comfort in knowing and believing that Bobby & Patty share a closeness, now, that they never had, must be overwhelming, to his large circle of family & friends. He was a member of the St. Vasilios Mens’ Club for many years and relished his friendships & associations within that organization. Bob & his family moved from Revere in 2005 and would settle in Merrimac, MA. He was also a long-time member of the Retired Revere Teachers’ Association. There, he would find many friends and associates from very early in his career.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
