Thomas D. Griffin

Funeral Services were held in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals for Thomas D. Griffin who passed away on Saturday, July 30th at the Blair House in Tewksbury, where he had been receiving supportive care. He was 92 years of age. Interment was held in Woodlawn Griffin, ThomasCemetery, Everett.

Born and raised in Revere, he attended and graduated from Revere Public Schools. He married Elizabeth T. (Kelly) and together they raised their family in Revere. This October they would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Thomas worked for over 35 years a custodian for Verizon until his retirement. He was a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. A kind and gentle man, he was known for always having a smile on his face. He enjoyed traveling throughout the years as well as being an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

He is the beloved husband of 49 years to Elizabeth M. (Kelly) Griffin. Devoted father of Robert J. Lorentz and his wife Nancy E. of Tewksbury and Laura Griffin of Chelsea. Cherished grandfather of Denise Kirshner, Lori Roberto and Tommy Lorentz. Adored great grandfather of Cassandra, Mikey and Leah. Dear brother of Catherine F. Griffin of Revere and the late Dorothy L. Griffin, John T. Griffin, Mary M. Brennan, Joseph, James and Francis Griffin.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
