Alice G. (Fabian) Longo
Private services & interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, were conducted for Alice G. (Fabian) Longo, who died on Friday, August 2nd following a brief illness at Rosewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Peabody, at 95 years. Born & raised in Revere, she attended Revere schools & was a 1936 alumna of Revere High School. Mrs. Long was, what one would classify as a “stay at home Mom,” a role that she loved & epitomized. Born on June 1st, 1918, so many women of that era were indeed equal, if not excelled their male counterparts, as members of “the greatest generation.” Their inimitable style in the discharge of their responsibilities as a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt & friend are legendary. Although the majority of these women viewed their role as “not extraordinary,” they are indeed, often the force behind the success of their husbands & children, & such was the likeness of Alice G. Longo. She & her late husband, Edward H. Longo, Sr. were married in 1938. He died in 2003, after their 65th wedding anniversary. She is the Cherished mother of: Carol A. Longo of Lynn, Edward H. Longo, Jr. & his wife Victoria of Wakefield, & John M. Longo & his partner Steven Clark of Chatham, MA. She is the devoted grandmother of: Lori Joyal & her husband Paul of Sudbury, Edward H. Longo, III & his wife Laurie of Wesboro, Debra Longo of Salem & Jennifer Hickey & her husband Christopher of Wakefield. She is also the dear Sister of Doris McCarthy of Revere, Frank Fabian of Rhode Island, Edith Palmer of California, Phyllis Lee of Virginia, Barbara Ventola of New Jersey, & the late Carl Fabian & the late Beatrice Cortese. She is also lovingly survived by her five great-grandchildren, Timothy, Jeffrey, Olivia, Emily & Benjamin, & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care, 275 Grove St., Newton, MA 02466.
