Roy T. Scally
Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte.107) REVERE on Friday, July 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., for Roy T. Scally, who passed on Wednesday, July 4th, following a brief battle with lung cancer and a lifelong disability with Cerebral Palsy.
Since August of 1991, Roy lived independently & after the passing of his dear Mom, Mildred F. (Silva) Scally. Roy was born in Everett & lived his entire life in Chelsea. As a youngster, he attended the Williams School in Chelsea. He enjoyed being tutored by his Mom, for in the 1950s, when he was a student, accommodations for the disabled were nowhere to be found. Thankfully, the world and all else has become accessible to each and every one regardless of disability or handicap. Roy’s struggle with mobility did not deter him from entering the work force. He worked as a Packer for the Revere Smoke Fish Co. of Chelsea for some ten (10) years and later worked in maintenance at local restaurants & coffee shops. He enjoyed riding his motorized scooter all over the area and for the excitement he received and the many friends and acquaintances he secured. This fine gentleman should prove to be an inspiration to any and all dealing with adversity.
He was the devoted & cherished son to the late Mildred F. (Silva) Scally & the late William Scally. He is the dear brother to William C. Scally & his wife, Lorraine Scally of Revere & the late Carole Charles & her late husband, Walter Charles of Florida. Many nieces & nephews also survive Roy. The family gratefully acknowledge & publicly address to the entire staff at the Leonard Florence Center for Living, their heartfelt joy with the care afforded their brother Roy and to them, as well. Because of that, rather than flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to the Leonard Florence Center for Living, 165 Captain’s Row, Chelsea, MA 02150.
