Family & friends are invited to attend a funeral on Friday, April 1st from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE beginning at 9:00 a.m., for Bernice F.”Bunny” Cody, who passed on Friday, March 25th at Mass. General Hospital, Boston, following a brief illness at 96 years young. A funeral mass will follow the visitation in the Immacuate Conception Church(corner of  Beach St.& Winthrop Ave.),REVERE at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Revere, she lived in Revere her entire life. She was a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School & Immaculate Conception High School, CLASS OF 1937. For several years, she worked as a secretary for the former Hickey Ins. Co of Revere & then joined the work force at Bank of America, in the Trust Department. Mrs. Cody also held a Mass. Real Estate Broker’s License and worked in real estate after she formally retired from the Bank. As a young mother, she was active in the Immaculata Guild at the I.C.C. Parish School.

She was the wife of the wife of the late, William F. Cody Sr. ,who died in April of 1969. She is the cherished mother of William F. Cody,Jr., Kenneth R.Cody & his wife Joanne all of Revere. She is the dear sister of John L. Porter of Lynn & the late, RPD-James Porter. She is also lovingly survived by her niece, Judith Ann Porter of Lynn & Many other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

Michael Megna

Family & friends are invited to visit on Thursday, March 31st in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), Revere, beginning at 10:00 a.m. for Michael Megna, who died on Thursday, March 24th, at the Cambridge Hospital, after a life-long valiant battle with cerebral palsy and all related complications. Following the visitation, a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.
in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., Revere, followed by interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Jamaica Plain.

Born & raised in Boston, Michael’s birth was afflicted with cerebral palsy, which he fought fiercely and intently to gain a place in the real world. After being orphaned at age 1 his dear Grandmother brought him up & raised him to very best of her capability, until he reached the age of seven. Because of the times, he was institutionalized at Lakeview Hospital, until moving to the Walter Fernald School for the Care of Retarded Adults. Michael was not retarded. He suffered from speech palsy: the inability to communicate. After a fierce debate with the Administration at the Fernald School & intervention from the “Boston Globe Spotlight” team, he won his fight, and was placed in a Watertown half-way house with 6 other adults, where he began his life a new with joy and excitement. For the past 37 years, he has enjoyed the opportunity of living within the Cambridge City environment, at Jackson Road Apartments. Michael involved himself in many activities, including, CCT (Cambridge Community Television. Michael was presented the Joseph Sakey Award for outstanding contributions to the development of access to the Media in Cambridge, in October of 1991. He was also presented an outstanding member-worker Award from the Cambridge Food Co-op in May of 1992. In June of 2015, he received his Certificate of Completion from the Commonwealth Care Alliance & Senior Care Options Program: “My Life, My Health”, the Stanford
Chronic Disease Self-Management Program.

He is the son of the late Salvatore & Filomena (Blonde) Megna. He leaves his devoted cousins, Rosalie Cunningham & her husband, James P. Jr.of Revere, Joseph V. LaRosa & his wife, Louise of Taunton & Vincent LaRosa of Bridgewater N.H. Francis A. Smith of Marshfield & several other cousins. He also lovingly by a sister, Maryanne and 2 brothers. The large extended family at Jackson Road, Cambridge will indeed, including the residents, staff, care-givers will long miss Michael for the the extraordinary care and love they
showered on Michael, all these years, may they be richly blessed with splendid health of mind and body.

Alice C. (John)Tranfaglia

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Thursday, March 31st at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St.& Winthrop Ave.),REVERE, for Alice C. (John) Tranfaglia, who died on March 19th at Union Hospital in Lynn, following a lengthy illness. Born in the Bronx, New York, she came to live here, over sixty years, ago. A quiet & unassuming woman, she
married Carl D. Tranfaglia, some 65 years ago (a Revere Boy), and they made their home on Warren St., Revere. Carl passed on Dec.21st of 2015.

She is the devoted mother of Carl D. Tranfaglia Jr. of Lynn, Paul W. Tranfaglia of Revere & Debra Bruno & her husband, Robert 0f Georgetown. She is also lovingly survived by 7 Grandchildren, 5 Great-Grandchildren & many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Charles John, Jr., Sissy Summers & Barbara John. Interment will be held privately.

Marianna M. (Peralta) Reynolds

(Peralta) Reynolds, who passed away on March 22nd at the Reynolds, MariannaWhidden Hospital in Everett following a brief illness. Her Funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 29th at 11:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 12:00 p.m. (Noon).

 

Marianna was born in Swampscott and lived her early years in Lynn. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Grammar School and St. Mary’s High School. She came to Revere in 1956 where she has remained. From the early 1960s through the late 1980s Marianna was a political aide to many of the candidates running for politics. She devoted a great deal of time and energy to her parishes of faith including Immaculate Conception and Holy Rosary of Winthrop. She spent many years both volunteering and working at both parishes and eventually served at parish secretary at the Immaculate Conception of Revere for several years. After her time at the Immaculate, she devoted herself to helping Rev. William Cummings at St. John the Evangelist Church in Cambridge, until Fr. Cumming’s untimely death. She then joined the parish staff at Holy Rosary Church in Winthrop as parish secretary and volunteer extraordinaire. Her life revolved around the welfare of her family and her church. She was a staunch member of the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, a member of the Maranatha Prayer Group of Everett and several other religious organizations. For over 20 years she worked as a secretary within the Revere Elections Department at Revere City Hall, where her personality and charm became apparent to all. Until recently, Marianna was still working at Holy Rosary Parish in Winthrop.

 

She is the wife of the late John J. Reynolds. She is the devoted mother of Kathleen A. Reynolds and Michael J. Reynolds and his wife Laura S., all of Revere and the late Mary Reynolds. She is the cherished grandmother of Christopher J. Reynolds and his wife Jennifer R., Michelle K. O’Hara and her husband Richard and Michael J. Reynolds, Jr., all of Revere. She is the dear sister of Rosalie Kinane, Sylvia Bourque, Dolores “DeDe” Kosmas, all of Torrance, California and the late Frank Peralta and Melanie Herrick. She is also lovingly survived by her sister-in-law Patricia LeMaster of CA and 2 great grandchildren, Nola and Cortana and many nieces and nephews. Interment in St Joseph Cemetery of Lynn.

Tracy J. (Sargent) Coscia

(Sargent) Coscia, who died unexpectedly on Monday, March 21st at Whidden Memorial Hospital. Following her service, visiting hours will be held throughout 8:00 p.m.

Born & raised in Beachmont, Revere, Tracey was a 1977 alumna of Revere High School. She worked as a Medical Secretary & Receptionist for the Hallmark Health System, especially at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, for over 20 years. Two years ago she embarked on a new career as a legal secretary for a Boston Law Firm.

She is the beloved husband of 28 years to Thomas J. Coscia, & the devoted mother to Lacey J. Coscia, & Stacey A. Coscia & her partner Dennis A. Fallino all of Revere & Holly Anne Coscia of Portland, Oregon. She is the cherished daughter to George W. Sargent & the caring sister of, Jeri A. Sargent, Raymond S. Sargent & Jean A. Sargent & her partner, Marc A. D’Ambrosio all of Beachmont, Revere. She is also lovingly survived by her precious, grandaughter, Anikaleah Hamilton of Portland, Oregon, her special canine friend, “Dobby” & many nieces & nephews. Interment will be private.

Dr. Mohammad Taleghani

Family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Thursday, March 24th at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St. Teleghani, MohammedEverett for Dr. Mohammad Taleghani, who passed away on Tuesday, March 2nd, with his family by his side.

Born in Tehran, Iran on December 21, 1931, the oldest of nine children. Dr. Taleghani graduated from Tehran University Medical School and had a 50 year distinguished career in pulmonary medicine, retiring in 2012. Dr. Taleghani began his medical career in the United States as an intern at the Chelsea Soldiers Home, where he met his first wife, Marilyn Kelly, who was working as a nurse. Dr. Taleghani and Marilyn Kelly were married in 1961. Over the course of their marriage, they lived in Washington DC and Maryland and traveled extensively. After his retirement, Dr. Taleghani moved to Bowling Green Kentucky, where he met and married Sudebah Minou. Dr. Taleghani’s life was dedicated to caring for his beloved family and patients. He was a dynamic man of great courage and intelligence and his warmth, inspiration and laughter will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Soudabeh, and four children, daughters Lisa Mary Bonaiuto and her husband Steven Bonaiuto, Marilyn Shirin Taleghani and his sons, Dr. Christopher Kelly Taleghani and his twin daughters Raquel Faulkner and late Sabrina Faulkner, and Richard Abbas Taleghani and his wife Jeanne and step son Ray. He is also survived by his sisters Azam and her husband Ahmed Razaghi, Fahti Nariman and her husband Ali, and brothers, Dr. Mehdi Adham and his wife Behnaz and Dr. Abdul Adham and his wife Sahi. Dr. Taleghani was the patriarch of a large family, including many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dr. Taleghani was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Marilyn Taleghani and his sisters Mali Tehran, Nahead Adham and Masum Adham and Abdol Adham.

Edna R. (Silva) Fairchild

(Silva) Fairchild, who passed after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in Rhode Island, Edna came to live with her family when she two years old to East Boston. She spent 63 years in East Boston, when she moved to Winthrop, 35 (thirty-five) years ago. For 21 years she worked as a cashier for the old “FIRST NATIONAL STORES” CHAIN, in the Orient Heights, East Boston store. Edna was all about family & enjoyed a beautiful closeness with her entire family. Her late husband, Charles N. Fairchild died in January of 1958, leaving her a single mother with three little children to care for. And that she did & did well according to her children, until her dying day.

She is the cherished mother of Eileen Fairchild-White & her husband, Walter P. of East Boston, Robert W. Fairchild & his wife, Norah Dooley of Brookline & Phyllis C. Fairchild of Winthrop. She is the devoted Grandmother to Sira Dooley-Fairchild, Julia Dooley-Fairchild, Ferron Dooley-Fairchild & Rosalie Dooley-Fairchild, all of Brookline, MA. She is also lovingly survived by her niece, Patricia A. Thompson & her husband, Richard of East Boston.

Michael C. Cascio

Cascio, who died following a lengthy & valiant struggle with colon cancer on Monday, March 14th at Boston’s Mass. General Hospital. His funeral mass will be held in the church on Thursday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m.

 

Born & raised in upper state New York, he came to live in the Boston area, where he attended Northeastern University & graduated in June of 1988 with a Bachelor of Science. He went onto pursue a Masters in Science from Rensselaer University, graduating in 1992. He was associated with the Vestas Technology Corporation and BAE Systems as a mechanical engineer. For the past five years, he was a Principal Engineer for MITRE Corp. of Bedford, Ma., where he excelled in his performance and accomplishments as a leader. Michael, not only was blessed with a strikingly handsome appearance, but also was a brilliant presence among his peers. At his profession he shared many friendships. No other aspect of his personage or his life duties and responsibilities, were as important to him than that of being a Dad. For the past seven years, Michael shared his life in Matrimony with his loving wife Cindi A. (Giugliano) Cascio. And five years ago, God granted Cindi & Michael the gift of a daughter, Jill Carol Ann Cascio. His daughter was the center of his life and the joy of his existence.

Michael is the beloved son-in-law of Salvatore & Gilfroia “Jill” (Sacco) Giugliano of Lynnfield. He is the dear brother-in-law of Antoinette G. Giugliano and her husband Ty Istanbullu and Steven S. Giugliano, all of Lynnfield. He is the adoring uncle to Giuliana, Alaina, Salvatore and Stefano. He is the cherished son of Thomas Bell Cascio of Florida & Carol A. (Michalski) Cascio of New York. He is lovingly survived by his brother Marc C. Cascio of Southborough, Ma. & Mercedes M. Cascio of Wellington, Fl. and many aunts, uncles & cousins. Interment will be in the family estate lot at Forest Hill Cemetery of Lynnfield.

John R. Carusone

Mr. Carusone’s Memorial Funeral Service will immediately follow the visitation at 7:15 p.m. in the Funeral Horne. His cremains will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne in the spring.

Born in Boston, he lived in Revere all of his life and was a 1967 graduate of Revere High School. He entered the U.S. Army, during the Viet-Nam Era on September 22, 1969 & served until he was discharged on April 15, 1971. He served with the rank of Private E-1, with a specialty as a field radio mechanic. At the time of his untimely death, he had completed 25 years of service with Stop & Shop as a Produce clerk in the Saugus store. Always a gentleman, John had many friendships & co-workers, who were very fond of him. His presence will be sorely missed by many.

He was the son of the late John R. & Yole (Chiarelli) Carusone & the beloved foster-son to the late, Francis J. “Frank” Pazyra & Maria G.(Russo) Pazyra, with whom he made his home. He is the devoted brother of Barbara E. Carusone-Labbe of Revere, Rose Marie Thornton & her husband, Gordon of No. Reading, Mary Ann Stasio & her husband and Dennis W. of Atkinson, N.H., Francis J. Pazyra, Jr. & Stephen Pazyra & his wife, Danette all of Revere. He is the dear friend to Michael & Donna & the adored Godfather to Nicole, all of Salem, Ma. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews.

Robert P. “Bob” Kelley

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 4th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home forKelley, Bobby Funerals, 773 Broadway for Robert P. “Bob” Kelley, who died on Monday, February 29th at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., unexpectedly. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Saturday, March 5th at 10:00 a.m. & followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 11:00 a.m.
Raised & educated in Revere, he is a 1951 alumnus of Revere High School. In May of 1953, he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served until May of 1955. He served as a Private 1st class and spent over one year in Tokyo. From 1966 through 1997, Bob worked for US Airways as a maintenance supervisor for 31 years. In 1987 (November), he bought the former “Buddy’s Café” and renamed it, BK’s Bar & Grille at Revere Beach. The bar is still owned & operated by his sons, Robert B. “Bobby” Kelley & Michael S. Kelley. Concurrently, while at BK’s, he & his wife, “Sissy” Bruce-Kelley, became the proud owners of Shannons’ Irish Pub in Lynn for over thirteen (13) years. Bob, Sissy, Bobby & Michael worked twenty-four/seven for many years, creating a success at both locations. Finally, Bob & Sissy retired & began passing the winters in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. They would often operate their establishments as social centers, allowing the “do drop-ins” a place to congregate & pass the time of day. Bob & Sissy were old dear friends of the late “Mickey” Reardon & his son, “Jackie” Reardon, who also ran the their businesses in the same manner. Bob & Sissy gave much back to the community, in the forms of generous sports sponsorships & donations. And the Kelley’s much like the Reardon’s, often quietly & anonymously were the funding source for many a fund raiser. That, in and of itself, is a tremendous legacy to Bob and his family.

 

Besides, his beloved wife of 53 years, Eleanor E. “Sissy”(Bruce) Kelley, he is the devoted father of, Robert B. “Bobby” Kelley of Boston, Brian M. Kelley and his partner Mark Zylla of New York City, NY, Michael S. Kelley & husband, Ricardo Rodriguez of Boston, Kathleen M. Kelley of Revere, Robert Kelley, Linda Rogowicz & her husband, Rob Rogowicz all of Chelsea. He is the cherished grandfather of Halle, Chase, Melody, Robbie, Meghan, Erin, Kerriann, Melissa & Stephanie. He is the dear brother of Retired Revere patrolman, David J. Kelley of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by several great-grandchildren, his caring extended Bruce & Morgan families & many nieces, nephews & faithful cousins. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. “Bob”was a long-time member of the Revere Loyal Order of Elks,#1171 of Revere.

We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
