Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Joesph J. Hamhoomis, who died unexpectedly at his Revere home on Friday, February 22nd, at 45 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 27th at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born in Everett, he lived most of his life in Melrose & was a 1985 alumnus of Melrose High School.  Soon after graduation, he entered the United States Army in June of 1985 & served until November of 1985.  He was a member of the Army Reserve & served until December of 1992.  For over 25 years, he worked as a clerk & foreman for Stop & Shop, always working the “Nite Shift.”  He was a long-time member of the American Legion Post #61 of Revere.  He was an avid Red Sox Fan & Boston Patriots fan all of his life.  For the past 7 years, he has lived in Revere.  He was the beloved husband of Andrea M. (Fay) Hamhoomis of Revere.  He is the Cherished Father of, Nicole Hamhoomis of Revere & Zachary Hamhoomis of Peabody. He is the devoted son of Harriet J. (Sabbagh) Hamhoomis of Melrose & the late, Nicholas A. Hamhoomis.  He is the faithful brother of Michael S. Hamhoomis of Melrose.  He is also the dear nephew to, Teddy Hamhoomis of Tampa, Florida, Jerry Alterio of Wakefield, & Mary Zbeeb of Marblehead.  Joseph also leaves a loving extended family of cousins from all areas of the Greater Boston area & the North Shore.

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, February 22nd, 2013 from 3 – 7 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Fedele C. (Zolla) Perotti, who died on Tuesday, February 19th at Bear Hill Nursing Center of Wakefield, following a brief illness, at 99 years.  Mrs. Perotti would have celebrated her 100th birthday on August 26th, 2013.  Born in Boston’s North End, she came to Revere as a young girl with her large family.  Her family, the Zolla family & the Perotti family (her late husband’s family) are considered to be two of the oldest Revere families still in the area.  She was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1930.  For over 30 years, she was the Principal Stenographer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (Division of Industrial Accidents), working into her early eighties.  She was a Realtor for the Commonwealth, owning & operating her own business, “Fidelity Realty” of the North Shore.  She lived in Revere for over 85 years before moving to Melrose in 2000.  She is the wife of the late Peter C. Perotti & the devoted Mother of: Roberta A. Garrett & her husband Gordon of Houston, Texas, & Dr. Lawrence P. Perotti & his wife Carolina of San Antonio, Texas.  She is the cherished Sister of, Alice M. DeMattia of Melrose & the late: Dr. Ralph Zolla, Dr. Vito Zolla, Dr. Henry Zolla, Peter, Joseph, & Victor Zolla & Eleanor Nazzaro.  She is also lovingly survived by her niece, Dorothy Carruthers of Revere, 2 Grandchildren & 2 Great-Grandsons.  Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Saturday, February 23rd at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 18th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Patsy Ceruolo, who died unexpectedly on Friday, February 15th at his Revere residence, at 93 years.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19th (Patsy’s 94th birthday), at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 12 Noon, followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.  Born & raised in East Boston, he attended East Boston schools & was a 1937 alumnus of East Boston High School.  He moved to Revere over 40 years ago.  All of his working career was in the construction business, as a finish carpenter for several area firms.  Patsy had a long association with the Joseph Farina Construction Company of East Boston.  He was a long-time member of the former Progressive Club of East Boston.  He is the beloved husband of the late, Ella (Napolitano) & the late, Edith (Zanick).  He is the Devoted father of Marie L. Ceruolo-Anzalone & her husband, Joseph of Revere & Richard A. Ceruolo & his wife, Donna of Orient Heights, East Boston.  He is also the cherished Grandfather of: Richard C. Ceruolo & his wife, Stephanie of Annapolis, Maryland, David A. & Paul R. Ceruolo both of Saugus, Lynn Marie Ceruolo of West Peabody & Christopher J. Ceruolo & his wife, Melissa of Lynn.  He is also lovingly survived by, Diane Peak & her husband, Donald of Wilmington, & his five great-Grandchildren: Nick, Shawn, Savanna, Sam & Antonio.  He is also survived by many caring nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  He was the brother of the late, Nicholas, John, Emilio, Ralph, Arthur & Louis Ceruolo, & the late, Josephine Rindone, Louise Pepe & Marguerite Cammaratta.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.

(Spillane) McCarthy, who died on Monday, February 11th at the Leonard Florence Center for Living, Chelsea, following a long illness, at 73 years.  A funeral will be held from the fuenral home on Friday, February 15th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10:30 a.m.  Mrs. McCarthy was born in Limerick City, Ireland & came to the United States of America in 1959, settling in Revere with her late husband, Gerard P. “Patrick” McCarthy, who died in July of 2010.  For over 40 years, she worked at the former Cerretanni’s-Shaw’s Market as a clerk, retiring from there at 65 years.  She is the devoted mother of: Karen A. Colwell of Revere & David McCarthy & his wife, Shoie of Marietta, Georgia.  She is also the cherished Grandmother of Aidan G. & Zachary T. Colwell of Revere, & Ava C. & Quinn E. (Forgione) Texera, from 5 – 9 p.m.  Mrs. Texera died at her Revere home on Sunday, February 10th, after a three year battle with cancer, at 66 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, February 14th at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m.  Born in Boston, she lived in Revere most of her life & was a 1964 alumna of Revere High School.  She went to work for the Greater Boston Legal Aid Services as a clerk & worked incessantly to rise to the position of “Paralegal.”  She was an advocate for the homeless, the underprivileged, the elderly & the disenfranchised, for over 30  years.  She is the devoted Mother of Beth A. & Jonathan E. Texera both of Revere, Jillian L. Elliott & her husband, Mark J. of Storrs, CT, & Michael K. Texera & his wife, Jessica of Chaplin, CT.  She was also the cherished Grandmother of, Jacob M. Vetree of Revere, Bryan R. & Grace C. Elliott both of Storrs, CT & Giana N. & Rocco M. Texera both of Chaplin, CT.  She is the dear sister of Robert Forgione & his wife, Judith of Burlington.  She is also lovingly survived by her former husband, Ronald F. Family & friends are invited to attend a funeral from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, on Saturday, February 16th, 2013 & visit with the family beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Mr. DelSapio died on Saturday, February 9th at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center – Worcester, following a brief illness, at 86 years.  A life long Revere resident, both he & his beloved wife of 62 years, Gloria M. (Pasquale), moved to Shrewsbury two years ago to be near family.  He was a 1944 alumnus of Revere High School, & joined the United States Army after graduation & served for over 3 years.  He is a World War II Army Veteran.  All of his working career was spent in the construction business, as a heavy equipment operator.  He worked for several area Construction firms.  He was a long-time member of the Saugus VFW, serving on their Board of Directors & also was a member of the Saugus Knights of Columbus.  Besides his wife, he leaves two dear sisters, Mary Ferrante of Somerville & Loretta Gallagher & her husband, William of New Hampshire & Florida.  He was also the brother of the late, Salvatore & Ronald DelSapio & Rose Connolly.  He is the Devoted uncle to Edward C. Alvino & his wife, Karen J. of Shrewsbury & the Grand-Uncle to, Melissa R. & Charles A. Alvino.  He was also the brother-in-law to the late Armando A. “Eddie” Alvino & his late wife, Rose M. (Pasquale) & Antoinette M. “Ann” Carifio.

Doheney who died in 1980.  She is the beloved mother of, Jacqueline Sweeney-Saulnier of Seabrook, NH, John L. Doheney & his wife Kathy of Georgetown, MA, & Lawrence P. Doheney & his wife Barbara of North Charleston, South Carolina.  She is also lovingly survived by 6 Grandchildren & 6 Great-Grandchildren.  She was the daughter of the late, Mary Minichino-LaRosa & Joseph Minichino, & the sister of the late, Vincent J. Jeanette (Buckley) Hickey, who died on Saturday, February 2nd, just three days before her 97th birthday (February 5th, 2013), at the Annemark Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Revere, unexpectedly at 96 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, February 6th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Blessed Sacrament Church, Saugus at 10:30 a.m.  Born in Boston, she spent her early years in East Boston & then moving to Winthrop for over 25 years, & over 30 years in Saugus.  She was a most active member of the Winthrop Seniors & a volunteer for the many committees serving the elderly & shut-inns of that area.  She was a great cook & took special joy in preparing “meals on wheels” for the elderly and disenfranchised population.  She was the wife of the late Thomas F. “Red” Hickey, Sr., who died in April of 2007.  At that time, the couple had celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary.  She is the Cherished Mother of, Thomas F., Jr. & his wife, Linda of Winthrop, Charles E. Hickey & his wife, Pamela of Saugus, & the late, Francis P. Hickey & his late wife, Janet.  She is the adored Grandmother of: F. Paul Hickey & his wife, Melanie of McDonough, Georgia, Thomas J. Hickey & his wife, Jen of Hanson, & Kellie A. Hickey & her fiancee, Eric Conrad of Haverhill.  She is also lovingly survived by her 2 great-grandsons, Matthew T. & Aidan T. Hickey, both of Hanson, her sister-in-law, Evelyn M. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
