Margaret (Nazzaro) Rizzo

Born & raised in Revere, she was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1938. She and her late husband, Ernest M. Rizzo, owned & operated, “Ernie’s Pizza Take-Out Service” on Mountain Ave., for almost 30 years. Prior to operating in Revere, the couple owned & operated a restaurant in Dorchester for over ten years. Ernie died on Sept. 22, 2012.

She is the devoted mother of Ernest W. Rizzo, Jr. of Windham, NH & Judith A. Correggio & her husband, Richard of Revere. She is the adored grandmother of Gina M. Regitano & her husband, Richard of Lynnfield & Nicholas R. Correggio & his wife, Roseanna of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by her two great-grandchildren, Adriana M. & Marco F. Regitano & many cherished nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Dear sister of the late Gertrude Scenna & her late husband, Nicholas, Nellie Connery & her late husband, Francis, Laura Saia & her late husband Benjamin & Michael Nazzaro & his late wife, Patricia.

Sean Bruce Symmes

His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, August 12th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 a.m.

Raised in Winthrop, he was a graduate of Winthrop High school, Class of 1997. Early on in his working career, Sean was a member of & worked for the Local #151 – Laborer’s Union; though lately he changed careers with a position in Sales while living in Long Beach, California for about 5 years creating a strong network of friends.

Sean is the adored son to Marilyn A. (Bruce) Symmes of Winthrop & the late Jay A. Symmes. He is the proud Daddy to Sydney L. Symmes of Winthrop. He is also the devoted brother of Cara B. Symmes & Brian M. Symmes & his girlfriend, Lauren M. Ligotti, all of Winthrop & Ginger Rivera of Oregon. He is also lovingly survived by many grieving aunts, uncles, cousins & friends. Lee O. (Casiello) Forgione

Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, August 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. thru 10:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), REVERE for Lee O. (Casiello) Forgione, who died on Thursday, August 3rd at Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center of Medford, following a brief illness. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 :00 a.m. in the Church of the Sacred Heart, 45 Brooks St., EAST BOSTON, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Born & raised in East Boston, Lee was an alumna of East Boston High School, Class of 1937. She lived in East Boston until 1957, when she & her family moved to Chelsea, for over 40 years. Her beloved and faithful husband, Robert A. Forgione passed on November 24th, 1994. In 1997, Lee moved to the Riverside Apartments for Seniors of Medford, where she remained until becoming a resident of Glen Ridge Nursing Care Center, a year ago. At the Kraft Apartments for the Elderly-Seniors in Chelsea, she began her career as an advocate for the elderly & for the justice due them. She was the President of the Residents’ Advocacy Organization in Chelsea & later at Riverside Apartments of Medford. Over the years, Lee helped secure excellent living & recreational advantages for seniors in Chelsea & Medford. She was the recipient of several awards from the governments of Chelsea & Medford for her contribution & work for seniors. Her family agree that the zeal at which she crusaded was the true reason for her longevity. She would have celebrated her 98th birthday this coming November 23, 2017.

She is the dear cherished mother of Robert A. Forgione, Jr. & his wife Joan L. of New Orleans, LA.  She is the beloved & proud grandmother of Robert A. Forgione, III & his wife Rosylene of Swampscott & Leanne M. Forgione of Marblehead. She was the dear sister of the late; Agnes L. Marandola, Vera LaCorrazza, Jennie Barbaro, Louise King, Elena Dittmer & John, Albert, Angelo, Joseph & Samuel Casiello. She is also lovingly by many caring & devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. While still a resident of Chelsea, and on a visit with Lee, she was asked exactly what she did in her organization for the seniors, she replied “I work hard, very hard for these folks, after all,  some of them have no one & nothing. So you could say I am passionate in my work for the elderly seniors and for the justice due them.” Lee was a woman of faith and grace, so referring to the Bible, particularly; Book of Proverbs- A Valiant Woman “… Praise her for the many fine things she does. Give her a share in what her hands have worked for and let her works tell her praises at the City Gates.”

Mary Pedersen

Funeral services were held privately for Mary (Kozak) Pedersen who died on Wednesday, July 26th at the Kaplan Family Hospice of Danvers, ending a long period of declining health.

Born in the Ukraine, Mary came to this country in the late 1950s. She lived in Revere for over 50 years. Mary worked as a waitress in several Boston area restaurants when she first arrived in this country.

She was the wife of the late Ralph C. Pedersen, who passed in August of 2000. She is the devoted mother of Walter T. Szuciak & his wife, Maria of Hanover, Jeanne M. Giuffre & her husband, Peter of Revere & Thomas L. Pedersen & his wife, Deanne & the late Joanne Szuciak & Ralph J. Pedersen. She is the cherished grandmother of Joseph M. Szuciak, with whom she made her home in Revere, Michael W. Szuciak of Hanover & Nicholas R. & Peter J. Giuffre of Revere. She was the dear sister to the late Anastasia Maiceiwna of the Ukraine, Russia. She is also lovingly survived. by many nieces & nephews. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Stephen L. Fauci

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, July 28th  from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), REVERE for Stephen L. Fauci, who died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 22nd, at Boston’s Mass General Hospital. Family & friends are also invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 29th in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 11:00 a.m. All those attending the Funeral Mass are asked to proceed directly to St. Anthony’s Church on Saturday.

Born in Winthrop, he lived in Saugus most of his young life, graduating from Saugus High School, Class of 1983. He would continue onto college with a full athletic scholarship at the University of Miami and eventually, would graduate Magna Cum Laude from Bentley College of Accounting. Stephen was an active member & devotee of St. Anthony of Padua Church for many years, serving as a Senior Lector. He moved to Middleton in 1999, where he remained until his untimely passing. He held an intense interest in Bio-Medical Application and Technology, which drew him into working for several Bio-Tech. Companies and most recently as an Executive Bio-Tech. Salesman.

Stephen is the beloved son of Leonard M. and Josephine P. (Carco) Fauci. He is the essence of brotherhood to Michael A. Fauci & his wife, Deborah of Saugus, David C. Fauci & his wife Kerry of Medford, Jennifer L. Grasso of Lynnfield, Marc L. Fauci & his wife Margaret “Maggie” of Tiverton, Rhode Island & Louis J. Fauci & his wife Cara of Melrose. He is the proud & faithful companion of 16 years to Whendy A. Kelliher, devoted step-father to Alexa Rae Walker & Robert S. Walker. He is also lovingly survived by many grieving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins. No text would be complete without mention of Stephen’s constant canine companion Hunter. In the upcoming weeks & months, a plethora of observations & salutations, regarding Stephen’s magnanimous personality, not to mention, his award-winning good looks will be repeated & repeated. However, no attempt could satisfy or justify the goodness of the soul resting in the fine young man. Interment will be held privately.

Richard A. Belliveau, Sr.

Belliveau, Sr., who passed on Saturday, July 22nd at the Kaplan Family Hospice, Danvers following a long period of declining health. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, July 27th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., Revere at 11:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Lynn, Richard was an alumnus of St. Jean Baptiste High School, Class of 1967 and then continued onto Bentley College of Accounting, where he was the recipient of a BS in Accounting, a Master’s degree in Taxation & a Master’s Degree in Business Administration consecutively. His accounting career included, Schwartz & Benjamin Inc., Nancy Sales National, Inc., & a stint at the Boston Opera Company. For the past ten years, plus, he has been the business manager for the Parish of St. Mary of the Assumption, Revere. Richard was “workaholic” in the true sense of the word, i.e. his wife tells the story of his insistence at stopping off at St. Mary’s Rectory, Revere, on his last voyage to the hospital, to complete the payroll.  After completing the task at hand, he then agreed to continue on to what would be his last hospital admission.

Richard leaves his beloved & trusted wife of 46 years, Mary R. (Mancini) Belliveau. He is also the cherished son to Alfred & Pauline (Young) Belliveau of Lynn, the devoted father of Richard A. Belliveau, Jr. & his wife Marcy of Peabody, Robert B. Belliveau & his wife Caroline A. of Revere & Rachel R. Belliveau & her wife Kim Rose of Waltham. He is the dear brother of Gerald Belliveau & his wife Christine of Lynn, Ann Meade & her late husband Craig of Merrimac, Ma & the late David R. Belliveau. He is the proud grandfather of Abigail R., Emma E. & Josephine M. Belliveau and Penelope L. & Lucille V. Belliveau & Kennedy M. Belliveau-Rose. Theresa M. (Poto) Meads

(Poto) Meads, who passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 11th after being stricken at her home & taken to Beverly Hospital. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., MIDDLETON at 11:00 a.m. Interment services will be held privately.

Born & raised in East Boston, she was an alumna of Fitton Catholic Central High School, Class of 1953. Theresa & her late husband, Stanley lived in East Boston, then moved to Revere for over 45 years, before moving to Middleton about five years ago. Mrs. Meads was a stay at home Mom, serving & spoiling her husband & two sons, daily. Her ability to spoil & indulge was not confined to her immediate family. Grandchildren,  and now especially her dear great granddaughter, Mia Rose,  have also been the recipients of her never ending love & attention. Theresa thoroughly enjoyed her family. Among her epiphanies in life, five years ago, when she relocated to Middleton, she came upon St. Agnes Church in Middleton. This chapel-like Parish became a tremendous source of comfort, peace & joy for her & the rest of the family. Her late husband, Stanley J. Meads, who died on August 22, 2014, passed following a very long & agonizing period of declining health and without the nurturing and comfort that St. Agnes Parish & their community provided the struggle would have been impossible. Her kindness & overwhelming generosity to St. Agnes is rather unique & inspiring.

She is the cherished mother to Gary J. Meads & his wife Patricia of Revere & Mark M. Meads, the Proprietor of Rapid Flow, Inc. & his wife Roberta of Middleton. She is the the devoted grandmother of Amanda M. Meads & Mark A. Meads, both of Middleton. Dear sister to Philomena Betano & her late husband Roy of East Boston, Eleanor T. Hitchings & her late Husband Kenneth of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by her sisters-in-law; Philomena “Philly” Meads of East Boston & Theresa Merino of Peabody. “GGT” also leaves her precious great-granddaughter Mia Rose, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews & her dear friends, Rosemary “Buzzy “Russo” & her husband Joseph of Winchester. A special remembrance to Theresa’s late canine companion “Teddy”.

Anthony J. “Tony” DeSisto

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, July 14th from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Anthony J. “Tony” DeSisto, who died on Tuesday, July 11th at the Spaulding Rehabilitation of Cambridge, following a ten week illness. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, July 15th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Revere, he was a 1949 alumnus of Revere High School. “Tony” entered the U.S. Army at the rage of the Korean Conflict in August of 1952 & served until July of 1954. He would return home to his dear & beloved wife, Geraldine (Frongillo) DeSisto & begin having & raising his family of six children. His careers, were multi-oriented, beginning with milk delivery for the old & former McAdams Milk Co., the Whiting Milk Co. & finally as custodian for the Revere School Department at the Revere High School & the Lincoln School. He retired in 1997. Later, he would drive for the former Fusco Oil Co. & N.E. Produce Center. Mr. DeSisto was the quintessential “Family Man”, working to support & educate his six children.

He is the beloved husband of 64 years to Geraldine (Frongillo) DeSisto. He is the devoted father of Donna M. Ferrante & husband Revere Fire Lt. Frank Ferrante, Doreen M. Aloisi & husband Anthony, Deann M. Iandolo & husband Normand, all of Revere, Dwayne A. DeSisto & wife Somijit of Bethlehem, NH, Danae M. McLaughlin & husband John of Saugus & Darren J. DeSisto & wife Gina M. of Revere. Proud grandfather to Anthony R. Aloisi & wife Amie of Haverhill, Nichole Guilherme, Danielle Iandolo of Revere, Joseph D. Gabriel “Billy” Furia

Born in Pescara, Italy and raised in Naples, Italy, the family came to the USA in December of 1956, settling in Revere. Interested in architectural engineering, Gabriel returned to school at Boston’s Wentworth Institute & received his Associate’s Degree in Architectural Engineering Technology in 1979. After working for a period at Carlylse Engineering of Jamaica Plain, he began a 28 year career at General Electric of Lynn, working as a Draftsman. “Billy” as he was affectionately known & remembered was well-liked by all who met him.

He was the beloved husband of the late Joanne M. (Pedro) Furia, who died on August 17, 2003. He is the cherished & proud father to Mark J. Furia & his wife Louise of Ayer & Daniel W. Furia & his wife Kathrina of Chelmsford. He is the dear brother of Adele “Lilla” Alessandroni of Treasure Island, Florida, Giovanni Furia & his wife Rossana & Elena Furia, all of Revere & the late Gennaro “Rino” Furia & the late Maria Cronin. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Clarice P. (Abbott) Zaccaria

Private services were held for Clarice P. (Abbott) Zaccaria of Revere, who died on Friday July 7th at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a brief illness. surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lynn on December 31st, 1932 in a 100-year-old house during a Blizzard. Mrs. Zaccaria was a Revere resident and a beach walker for many years and enjoyed riding her banana seat bicycle. She worked at Champion Lamp on the Lynnway, working with incandescent lamps and Christmas light bulbs. After she became married, she focused on raising her family as a devoted mother and homemaker. The beloved widow of the late Louis G. Zaccaria, who passed on May 20, 2001, former mechanic for Ocean Amusements and later Stearn’s Hardware, known by many as “Louie”, always wearing a cap.

She is the devoted & cherished mother to Linda J. Mustone & her husband Christopher of Hookset, N.H., Roseann Zaccaria of Revere & North Hampton, N.H. & her companion William Leighton of Revere, Maryann Bartes and her husband, Jim of Lawrence and the late Louis D. Zaccaria, who passed December 4,2002. She is also lovingly survived by 3 special grandsons, Louis A Zaccaria and his wife Dawn and great grandson Nicholas of Hanson, Craig L. Zaccaria & devoted companion Rebecca Smith & his daughter & great-granddaughter Sabrina, James Bartes Jr. and his wife Jenn along with 3 great grandchildren Clayton, Colin & Conner. A granddaughter Adrien Bartes & her companion Matt McMan of Virginia. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law JoAnne (Zaccaria) Yebba & 3 loving granddaughters Nicole, Sophia, & Jolena Zaccaria of the late son Louis D. Zaccaria. She was the beloved daughter of the late Clarence Abbott & Rose Ella (Ellis) Abbott & the dear sister to the late Nathalie Hicks, Norma Bennett & brother William Abbott. The eldest devoted niece Donna Whitehead of New Market N.H., sister Mary Bennett of Lowell & brother Johnny Bennett & his late son John Jr. of Lowell & many grandnieces, Arlene, Elaine, Holly, Marion Norma, Merinda, Julie, Susan & Hydie. Mrs. Zaccaria was devoted to family, friends & found most joy in the company & presence of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand nephews. Known as ” Auntie Clarice”, “Nan” and by friends “Clarissa” & “Ma Dukes”, she was affectionately known, was everyone’s favorite; a beautiful testimony to a life lovingly lived. Interment was private.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
