Joseph A. Morante

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 4th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Joseph A. Morante, who died on Wednesday, July 31st at the Boston Medical Center following an attack on Tremont St., Boston, where Joseph was employed.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 5th at the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10:30 a.m.  Joseph was born in Melrose & lived in Revere all of his life, & was a 2012 alumnus of Revere High School.  He was employed by “Eye-World” Cell Phone at the Tremont St., Boston location, where the tragic accident occurred.  Ironically, he was to be transferred to the East Boston store on Tuesday, August 6th.  Joseph was an unusually loving young man, who was most fond of children, especially his 10-year old twin brothers, Alan C. & Steven G. Plitsch of Revere, & his two-year old baby sister, Grace M. Morante of East Boston.  He is the cherished son of Carolyn M. Russo of Revere & Joseph J. Morante, Jr. & his wife Seeyee Morante of East Boston.  He is the devoted Grandson of Richard F. Russo of Arlington & the late, Sara E. Russo & Camille M. Morante of Revere & the late Joseph J. Morante, Sr.  Joseph also leaves his fiancee, Diana Alvarez, & is also survived by many adoring aunts, uncles & cousins.  Joseph enjoyed an unusual & tender bond with his immediate & extended family.  This tragedy happened on July 31st, only two days following his 19th Birthday.  May our loving God & his Mother, Mary, enfold Joseph & his entire family in the mantle of protection, shielded from all things negative & restore their minds & hearts to peace & enduring love.  Interment will be held privately at a later time at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: ROCA, 101 Park St., Chelsea, MA 02150.

Doris E. (Linnell) Creighton

A funeral service was held at the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, of Revere, for Doris E. (Linnell) Creighton, who died on Wednesday, July 31st, 2013 at the Beverly Hospital, following a brief illness, at 93 years.  Born & raised in Vermont, she came to live in Chelsea as a young girl with her family & lived there for over 40 years, until moving to Revere 50 years ago.  Mrs. Creighton was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother & a faithful & caring daughter to her late mother, Annice (Vallette) Linnell, who made her home with Doris.  Mrs. Linnell died at age 96.  Doris’ father, the late Reverend Ralph W. Linnell, was Pastor of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Chelsea for about ten years in the late forties & 1950’s.  She is the widow of the late George C. Creighton, who died in December of 1982.  She is the devoted Mother of, Robert N. Creighton & his wife Catherine of Lynnfield, Ralph J. Creighton of Las Vegas, Nevada, Eleanor Kelley of Saugus formerly of Revere, & the late George C. Creighton, Jr.  She is the dear sister of Ralph W.  Linnell, Jr. of Tampa, Florida.  She is also lovingly survived by 9 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

(Cammisa) Bowlen, who died on Monday, July 29th in the Chelsea Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Chelsea, following a long illness, at 62 years.  Born in Winthrop, she lived almost all her life in Revere.  She was a 1968 alumna of Revere High School.  For many years, Denise worked in the office at Stop & Shop Stores.  She is the beloved Daughter of the late, James & Elvira (Prizio) Cammisa.  She is the cherished Mother of Marc G. Bowlen of Tewksbury.  She is the devoted Sister of Brenda A. Fantasia & her husband Edward of Revere.  She is also lovingly survived by her former husband, Gerald Bowlen.  Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Peabody.

Rosario C. “Billy” Balliro

Family & friends are invited to a visitation on Monday, July 29th, 2013 from 4 – 9 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Rosario C. “Billy” Balliro, who died on Tuesday, July 23rd at his Revere residence following a brief illness, at 78 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m.  Born & raised in Boston’s North End, he attended Boston schools & entered the United States Army during the Korean Conflict in September of 1952 & served until March of 1955.  He had a brilliant career in the military & received many awards for his outstanding service.  He is the recipient of the Presidential Unit Emblem with 2 Overseers Bars, Good Conduct Medal, the Korea Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, & the Combat Infantry Badge.  Throughout his working career, he wore many “hats” as a Contractor, restauranteur, vending machine supplier, & a specialist in home draining systems.  He held licenses in Massachusetts Home Inspection & Massachusetts Home Improvement.  He was the founder & long-time member of the Revere Businessmens’ Association,  a long-time member of the Revere Lodge of Moose #1272 & the Revere Lodge of Elks #1171, the Revere Lodge of the Sons of Italy (Giuseppe Mazzini), & the Revere Patriots’ Club.  He was also a long-time member of the Mottollo VFW Post #4524 of Revere.  Over 20 years ago, “Billy” founded the Revere Businessmens’ Association, & was their President for several years.  Under his guidance & sponsorship, the club has served as a magnanimous & generous support to many organizations & charities.  Very often, their gifts are given quietly & anonymously.  He is the beloved husband of 41 years to, Linda L. (Garland), & the late: Maryanne (Tardiff) St. Sauveur.  He is the Devoted father of: Michael T. “Rusty” Balliro of North Attleboro, Tia M. Balliro of New Hampshire, George Patnode of Boston, Jeffery Patnode of Revere, & the late, William J. Balliro, Lisa Patnode, Michelle Balliro-Cummings & Renee B. Balliro-Cosson.  Dear brother of Mary Tzannos & husband Nicholas of Saugus, Frances Bent of Wilmington, Lucy “Lulu” Winship of Plymouth, Bruno Balliro & wife Delores of Revere, & the late: Rocco, Frank, Joseph, & Rudy Balliro, & the late, Josephine Novello, Florence Monteforte, & Rosalie Foye.  He is the Cherished Grandfather of Rita M. & Philip A. Patnode, both of Revere, & 13 other Grandchildren.  Also lovingly survived by 8 Great-Grandchildren, his brother-in-law William C. Edward A. “Sonny” Sekenski, Jr.

Family & friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday, July 26th, 2013 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, from 4 – 8 p.m. for Edward A. “Sonny” Sekenski, Jr., who died unexpectedly, at 73 years, after being stricken at his Chelsea home & rushed to the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett on Tuesday, July 23rd.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, July 27th at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m.  Born & raised in Chelsea, he was a life-long resident of Chelsea.  All of his working career was spent as a self-employed truck driver.  He entered the United States Army & served until December of 1961 during the Viet-Nam Era.  He was a long-time member of the Broadsound Tuna Club of Revere, the Chelsea Lodge of Moose, & the Danvers Fish & Game Club.  An avid sports fan, “Sonny” was known as one of the best hosts for Super Bowl bashes among his family & friends.  He is the beloved husband of 20 years to Helen M. (Saunders) Hartman-Sekenski.  He is the devoted father of Edward A. Sekenski III of New Hampshire, Steven Sekenski of Chelsea, Michael Sekenski & his wife Caren of Revere, Paul Sekenski of Pembroke, & Debra Moore & her husband Wayne of Rhode Island.  He is the dear Brother of: Robert Sekenski of Saugus, Roberta Rollinson of Boca Raton, Florida, & the late Richard Sekenski.  Also lovingly survived by Jonathan, Katherine, & Adam Hartman & their families, all of Revere, 14 Grandchildren, 1 Great-Grandchild, & many nieces & nephews.  Son of the late Edward A., Sr. & Mary (Kaczovowski) Sekenski & John McCandless.  Interment is private.

MacAllister, Jr., who died on Sunday, July 21st at the Boston Medical Center following a long illness, at 53 years.  The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 8:15 p.m.  Born in Lynn, he was a lifelong Revere resident, attending Revere schools.  Prior to his illness, Ralph worked for many of the local restaurants & cafes on the North Shore.  He is the beloved son of Ralph R. MacAllister, Sr. & his wife Ellen (Baraclough) MacAllister.  He was the son of the late, Denise E. (Boticelli) MacAllister.  He is the Cherished Brother of: Gerald Spears of Medford, Muriel Spears of Provincetown, Beverly Dares of Ossippee, New Hampshire, Timothy Spears of Florida, Denise E. MacAllister & Samuel MacAllister both of Revere, Billy-Joe MacAllister of Lowell, & the late, E. Russell & Anthony P. (Chesnick) Hennis, who died after a long illness at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home on Sunday, July 21st in the early morning, at 93 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, July 26th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere, at 10:30 a.m.  Frances was born & raised in Cambridge, attended Cambridge schools & was a 1937 alumna of St. John’s High School of Cambridge.  She came to live in Revere as a young bride & remained here until her death.  Frances was a devotee of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community, serving as a Eucharistic Minister & an honored member of the Third Order of Mary at Immaculate Conception Church.  She is the wife of the late, Lawrence P. Hennis, Jr., who passed in January of 1993.  Mr. Hennis operated an upholstery & design business from his Revere garage all of his working career.  She is the Cherished Mother of: Frances Hennis of Peabody, Louise Liptscher, Maureen Hennis, & Lawrence P. Hennis, III, all of Revere, Ann Petrello of Topsfield & Lauren Hennis – Gray of South Carolina.  She is the Dear Sister of: Marion Barbara of Rhode Island, five other sisters & a brother pre-deceased her.  She is also lovingly survived by 6 Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  Frances worked for about ten years at Jewish Family & Childrens’ Services of Boston as a secretary & receptionist, retiring at age 62 years.  Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Peabody.

Louise L. (McGurin) Sarro

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 24th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Louise L. “Lou” (McGurin) Sarro, who died after an eight month struggle with metastatic cancer, on Sunday, July 21st at the Lighthouse Nursing & Medical Center of Revere, at 69 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 25th, followed by the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m.  Born & raised in Revere, she was a 1962 alumna of Revere High School.  For over 14 years, “Lou” was an employee of Marston Corporation.  After she retired from Marston, she began a new career as a cafeteria worker at Revere’s Garfield School, where she remained until her untimely death.  While at Marston Corp., she worked within the Human Resources Division.  Her quiet efficiency & personality won her many friends & loving colleagues.  She is the beloved wife of 49 years to: Francis C. “Fran” Sarro.  The cherished mother of Francis C. “Frank” Sarro, Jr. & his wife Tina, & the devoted Grandmother to: Jessica L. & Christian E. Sarro, all of Haverhill.  She is the Dear sister of, Geraldine Lank & her late husband William of Huntington Beach, California, Antoinette Leahy & her husband Frank of Medford, & Roberta Kedzierski & her late husband Kenneth of Phoenix, Arizona.  She is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, friends & colleagues.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity.
