Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, May 8th, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Marie “Chickie” (Falzarano) Faretra, who died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 5th at her East Boston home, at 85 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, May 9th at 9 a.m., followed by the funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  “Chickie” was born in Chelsea, schooled there & lived in Revere for many years before moving to East Boston over 25 years ago.  During her working career, she wore many hats, as a clerk at the “Old Racket Store” of East Boston, as a bar-maid in several of the local cafes & finally in Ladies’ Apparel.  She worked as an associate at Tello’s of East Boston before opening her own dress shop, “Before & After” of East Boston for over 12 years.  She was the wife of the late Pasquale J. “Pat” Faretra, & the Mother of the late: Pasquale “Pat” Faretra & John M. Faretra.  She is the beloved mother-in-law of Rita M. Faretra of West Peabody.  She is the cherished Grandmother of: Lisa M. Kieran & her husband Timothy of Wilmington, & Ilia L. Faretra of West Peabody.  She is the Dear Sister of Lena Buttiglieri of Beverly, Joanne Dobson of Oakland, California, & Regina Falzarano of West Peabody, & the late: Frank B. “Gypsy Joe” Falzarano, Rose Ciampolillo & Louise Faretra.  She is also lovingly survived by her Great-Grandchildren, Antonia, Bella, & Lex, & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Service on Saturday, May 12th, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St., Revere, for Barbara A. (Sharpe) Pineau, who died on Wednesday, May 2nd following a long illness at her Revere home, at 81 years.  Born in Chelsea, she was a Revere resident almost all of her life.  She was a 1948 alumna of Revere High School.  For over 12 years, she was the Chef for the Day Care Nursery at First Congregational Church, of Revere, where she had been a most active member & patron.  Over the years, she was most generous with her crafts for the Church.  She was an outstanding craft worker, especially in knitting and crocheting.  She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur A. “Pinky” Pineau, who passed in January of 1992.  She is the devoted Mother of: Nancy A. Pineau of Revere, Susanne Rodgers of Groton, Matthew D. Pineau & his wife Carla J. Pineau of Revere, & the late Allen A. Pineau & the late Mark S. Pineau.  She is the Dear sister of, June Sheldon of Lynnfield, Dorothy Malcolm of Peabody, & the late: Clifford, John & James Sharpe, Marilyn Sheldon, Evelyn Gillespie, Eleanor Stone, & Judith Sharpe.  She is also lovingly survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, & many nieces & nephews.  Interment will be held privately.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Food Pantry at First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St., Revere, MA 02151.  Arrangements are in the care of Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals of Revere.

(Fogarty) Gillen, who died on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012 following an illness at the Dexter House of Malden.  The funeral will be conducted from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, MA on Tuesday, May 8th at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass.  Visiting Hours are Monday, May 7th, from 4 to 8 p.m.  A devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt & grandmother, she was the family’s care giver, fashion adviser and mentor.  She was born and schooled in Revere.  She was a 1944 alumna of Revere High School.  She is the beloved wife of 63 years to, Joseph F. Gillen.  She is the devoted mother of: Barbara J. Gillham & her husband Patrick T. of Sherman Oaks, CA, Steven J. Gillen of Revere, MA & Mark S. Gillen & his wife Maria of Peabody, MA.  She is the cherished grandmother of: Patrick J. & Kelsey M. Gillham of Sherman Oaks, CA and Christopher J. & Alycia K. Gillen of Peabody, MA.  Dear sister of Mary Norden of Royal Oak, MI, Joanne McAulay of Westwood, MA, Audrey Lovetere & her husband John of Revere, MA, Jane Forte & her husband Richard of Waltham, MA & the late: Ruth A. Dalita (Der Sahakian) Chorlian

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 from 6-9 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Dalita (Der Sahakian) Chorlian, who died on Wednesday, April 25th at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center of Boston, at 91 years, following a long illness.  Her funeral service will be conducted in the First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St., Revere on Monday, May 7th at 11 a.m., followed by entombment in Woodlawn Mausoleum (Sheffield Building) of Everett.  Born in Tiflis, Russia, now Tiblisi, Georgia, on July 4, 1920, the family immigrated to Germany in 1928, then to France in 1930, and then to the United States of America in 1936, settling in Watertown.  She was an alumna of Girls’ High School of Boston & then graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music.  She majored in Voice, & was pronounced an alto soprano.  She had a full & robust voice, almost operatic in delivery.  She sang for the Armenian Community & was a long-time member of the Yerevan Chorale Society of Belmont, for over 25 years.  She sang in many churches in the area, including the Watertown Evangelical Church.  In 1950, she made an extended trip to Fresno, California, then a mecca of Armenian culture & often sang on the Armenian Radio station.  Her family had long roots to life within the Armenian Church & the Evangelical Movement.  Her father, the late Reverend Mardiros Der Sahakian, was pastor of several Armenian-Evangelical Churches in the area.  She was also the daughter of the late Mariam (Avedian) Der Sahakian.  Mrs. Chorlian’s husband, John G. Chorlian, a member of one of Revere’s oldest Armenian Families, died in July of 1997.  She is the Cherished Mother of Paul C. Chorlian & his devoted wife, Tomi S. (Bergeron) Chorlian of West Newton.  She is the dear Sister of Pauline Amiralian of Woburn & the late Karmille Harutunian.  She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  In 1969, Mrs. Chorlian, together with her family moved to West Newton.  Her son Paul & his wife, remain in that same home, today.  Remembrances may be made to the New England Fellowship of Evangelicals – a.k.a. Richard G. Hollohan

Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, May 5th at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH, for Richard G. Hollohan, who died Sunday, Aprill 22nd, 2012 following a long illness in Imperial Beach, CA.  Born and raises in East Boston, he was a 1949 alumnus of Boston English High Schoo;.  He entered the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict & served for several years.  He lived, together with his family in East Boston until moving to Salem, NH in 1966. The family left New Hampshire in 1976 and moved to Imperial Beach, CA where his family remains.  For over 30 years, he worked for New England Tel. & Tel. , and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.  He leaves his wife of 60 years, Margaret I. “Peggy” (Crotty) Hollohan of Imperial Beach, CA.  He is the devoted father of: Monica R. Nunley & her husband John,  Paul S. Hollohan,  Mary Elizabeth Woods,  Margaret A. Hollohan all of Imperial BACH, CA and the late Richard “Danny” Hollohan.  He is the dear brother of: Mary Garcia of Billerica, MA,  Joseph Holohan of Maynard, MA and the late Augustine & Michael Hollohan & Theresa Cahalane.  He was the cherished grand father of:  Melinda,  Sean, Andrew,  & Katherine.  He is also lovingly survived by his two great grand children Kaelin & Kaila and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews.  Remembrances may be made to the charity of your choice.

John F. MacPherson

John F. MacPherson

Services & interment were held privately for John F. “Sweet Mac” MacPherson, who died on Thursday, April 19th, 2012 at his Revere home, following a long & difficult struggle with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, at 71 years.  Born in Stoneham, he lived his early life in Melrose & Medford, & was a 1958 alumnus of Medford High School.  In October of 1960, he entered the United States Army during the Viet-Nam Era, & served until October of 1966.  In 1968, he & his wife, Rose M. (Donnarumma), established J/R Repro Graphics, a company that earned them “best graphics” in Boston magazines.  They serviced schools, colleges, & privately served many up & coming musicians in the Greater Boston area.  Their endeavor became a family affair, with all three children working within the business.  In 1990, his family gave him an alto saxophone for his 50th birthday because of his love for all music, especially jazz.  He then entered into a new career as a “Busker,” aka “Street Musician.”  He lived the life of a “free spirit” traveling the country.  In 1996, he teamed up with his friend “Trumpet Bob” & began a long stint in New Orleans as a busker.  During the winter, he would head for Key West where his fame & talent gave him the name of “Sweet Mac.”  In 2011, because of his age & declining health, he returned to Revere & his family, who cared for him at home until his passing.  He is the husband of Rose M. (Donnarumma) MacPherson & the Devoted father of: Donna M. MacPherson & her husband Donald P. Higgins, William A. MacPherson all of Revere, & John F. MacPherson, Jr. of Everett.  He is the cherished Grandfather of: Ashley Sanphy of Exeter, New Hampshire, Emma R. Higgins of Revere, & Jonathan A. MacPherson of Chestnut Hill, MA.  He is the Dear brother of: Richard MacPherson of Middleton, Thomas MacPherson of Reading, Robert MacPherson of Oregon, & Stephen Aiello of Delray, Florida.  He is also survived by his great-grandson Michael F. Cerasulo & several nieces & nephews.  Before returning to Revere, he spent a brief time in Brattleboro, Vermont composing & arranging in collaboration with his son, Billy, which brought tremendous joy to him.  His postings can be found on the “Jukebox” page at: bluesmansweetmac@gmail.com.  A memorial gathering will be held sometime during the summer months & will be announced.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Playing for Change Foundation, P.O. Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere from 4 – 8 p.m. for Nicoletta (Beatrice) Masiello, who died on Saturday, April 14th at her Revere home, following a long illness, at 86 years.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, April 19th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  Mrs. Masiello was born in Avellino, Italy & came to the United States of America in 1961, settling in Revere.  She was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, & friend to many.  She worked in the shoe industry, locally, for several years.  She is the beloved wife of 48 years to Carmine Masiello.  She is the Devoted mother of: Revere Animal Control Officer, Anthony C. Masiello & his wife Christine, & Melina I. Sousa, &. cherished Grandmother of David C. Sousa & Madison Masiello, all of Revere.  She is the dear Sister of: Michelina Monaco & her husband Pasquale of Avellino, Italy, Assunta “Susie” Licciardi & her husband Frank, & Elena Coccimiglio & husband Nicola, all of Revere, & the late: Antonetta Colarusso, Angelina DiVito, & Filippo Beatrice.  Loving sister-in-law of: Cristina Beatrice & Carmine Colarusso, both of Revere, & Frank DiVito of Saugus.  Also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, Grand-nieces, & Grand-nephews in the United States & Italy.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

At 89 years on Friday, April 13th, 2012 at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere, following a brief illness.  Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, April 17th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, April 18th at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass in Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.  Born in Boston, Mr. Cataldo lived in East Boston most of his life before moving to Revere in 1950.  He served in the United States Navy from December of 1942 – January of 1946 as a Motor Machinist’s Mate, 2nd Class.  He is a Veteran of World War II.  He continued on with his interest in autos & mechanics, & went to work for the former “Perrotti Oldsmobile” on Broadway, Revere, for several years.  He retired from Pride Lincoln-Mercury of Lynn in 2002 at the age of 80.  He was a long-time member of the Revere Council, Knights of Columbus.  He is the devoted husband of 61 years to Frances L. (Marino) and the cherished Father of: Domenic A. Cataldo & wife Gail of Phoenix, Arizona, & Cynthia L. Chipman & husband Kenneth R. of Revere.  He is the beloved grandfather of: Nicholas A. D’Angelo of Revere, Tony Cataldo of Phoenix, AZ,  & Janelle Morales & her husband Guillermo of Jacksonville, North Carolina.  He is the Dear brother to Mary Tranfaglia of Winthrop & the late Carmen Cataldo.  He is also lovingly survived by several nieces & nephews.  Parking is available to the left of the funeral home.
