She belonged to many of ICC’s fund-raising endeavors for the new convent built in the 1960s and was also a member and supporter of the Immaculata Guild. Through her late mother’s involvement with the Catholic Daughters of America (CDA), Alice would become not only a member but took the reigns to become the Regent of the CDA-Court James Lee at ICC. Also, on a national level, she was appointed District Deputy of the Catholic Daughters, a post she held for 10 years. Alice Marie’s energy and devotion to the Church was enviable in that she never tired, i.e., no task too great or too menial that she could not tackle. Along with her CDA responsibilities, she was a Past President and member of the Revere Woman’s Club for many years. She also held the presidency for the Parents’ Guild at Regis College for several years. Among her other interests, were the Mass Citizen’s for Life, another group to which Alice volunteers much time and effort. However, Alice would want to be remembered as an exemplary wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, cousin & “best friend”. Alice’s late husband Edward T. Schmitt, Jr. who passed in March of 2004 was the proprietor and operator of the E.T. Schmitt Plumbing & Heating Corp. of Everett and Revere. Alice was the company accountant and bookkeeper until Eddie’s death.

She is the cherished mother of Anne Marie Schmitt of Revere & Eileen T. Perry & her husband Henry S. Perry & the adoring grandmother of Kathleen M. Perry & Colleen M. Perry, all of Wakefield. Devoted daughter to the late Joseph P. & Margaret E. (Howell) Manning & faithful sister to the late Rev. Joseph H. Manning & the late William J. Manning, USAF.

    Dear Anne Marie and Eileen,
Alice was a dear, dear childhood friend from Revere of my aunt Judy Burnell Barrows and my mother Audria Burnell Moschella. Their treasured friendship lasted their lifetimes as they predeceased your mother. Alice and your father were always included in all milestone life events in the Barrows and Moschella families. I have many fond memories of Alice and loved to hear her stories of their escapades.. Alice was a kind, caring and loyal friend to Judy and Audria for over 60 years and I hope you find comfort in knowing how loved she was by them both.
Please accept our sincere condolences from the Barrows and Moschella families.
    Thinking of you.
    Mila Moschella

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
