Andrew J. Schena
Family & friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 from 5 – 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Andrew J. Schena, who died unexpectedly at his Revere home on Monday, December 3rd, at 49 years. The funeral service will follow the visiting hours at 8:15 p.m. Andrew was born in Everett, & lived his entire life in Revere, graduating from Revere High School, Class of 1981. Most of his working career was with the International Union of Laborers of North America, Local #22. He was the beloved son of the late Anthony & Ann (Fanara) Schena, who were the founders of “The Banana Boat” in 1971, one of the last operating concession stands at Revere Beach. The concession is still family run & owned. Andrew spent many a hot summer at the concession, with his Mom, Dad, brother & sisters. He is the devoted father of Andre Dallesandro of Saugus. He is the cherished brother of: Anthony Schena, Jr. & his wife Sharon of Plymouth, Avri A. Schena of Revere & Amora A. Schena-Callahan & her husband, Revere Police Sergeant Charles “Chuckie” Callahan of West Peabody. He is also lovingly survived by 2 nephews, 2 nieces, & several grand-nieces & grand-nephews. He is the beloved nephew of Robert Fanara & his wife Maureen of Saugus. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-9376.
