Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 26th, 2014 from 3 – 7 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Ann M. (Montanaro) Merullo, who died on Thursday, May 22nd following a long illness at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital, at 88 years. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m. Born & raised in Revere, she was a life-long resident & alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1943. She worked for New England Tel. & Tel. for several years, before retirement, at the main office in Boston. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Ann’s greatest joy came from her ability to entertain & cook for not only her immediate family, but for her extended family as well. The holidays, “all the holidays,” were special to her & her family. Her beloved late husband, Raymond J. Merullo, died in November of 2008. She is the cherished mother of Denise M. Merullo of Revere, & Carol A. Pizziferri of Winthrop. She is the special aunt to Paul Giampa of Somersworth, New Hampshire, & the dear cousin to: Stella DiVenuti & her husband Albert of Malden, Barbara Woods of Peabody, Ralph DeMarco of Revere, & Dr. Robert Pitzi & his wife Mary of Plaistow, NH. She was also the sister of the late Ella Giampa. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. In keeping with Ann’s intrinsic quality of charity, entertaining & preparing lavish food tables not only at the Holidays, but all the “days,” the family asks that remembrances be made to: “My Brother’s Table,” 98 Willow St., Lynn, MA 01901.

Dear Denise and Carol,
I am so sorry I learned of your mother’s passing just today. My mother, Virginia and Ann were great friends at the phone company. From Chelsea to 245 State Street they went way back.
She was a wonderful lady and always remembered my son in a special way.
Our thoughts are with you both; it’s such a difficult loss.

May 29th, I just read the obituary tn the Winthrop Transcript. I was so sorry that I missed all of the arrangements. I considered, Ann a dear friend. We had a lot of good memories when we all worked in the Chelsea Business Office, along with, Ella. But Ann was special to me. We both ended- up working in the same building at 245 State St and would frequently have lunch or coffee break together. Ann is the one who got me interested in collecting Lladro figurines, after seeing her collection. They were so beautiful.
She will be in my prayers, as will Carol & Denise.

My deepest sympathies to a wonderful family and a wonderful women. I hope you know how much you were loved and what legacies you have left behind. Holidays would not have ever been the same without what I learned from you. Being surrounded by your families love was something I will cherish forever, ‘You may be gone from us in body but you will never be forgotten.
