Antoinette (Velona) Cogliandro
Visiting hours are Monday, July 23rd, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Antoinette “Tootsie” (Velona) Cogliandro, who died at Epoch of Melrose on Friday, July 20th, after a long illness, at 93 years. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, July 24th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m. Born in East Boston, she was raised there, educated there, & moved to Revere in 1947. For many years, she worked as a stitcher for the former Picariello-Singer Manufacturing Co. of East Boston. Later in life, she was the accountant & bookkeeper for her husband’s barber shops, in East Boston & Cambridge. Her late husband, Michael “Mike” Cogliandro, died on April 19, 2009. “Mike” was a most-popular figure in the Cambridge & East Boston communities. She is the beloved mother of Anthony C. Cogliandro & his wife Annina of Saugus, & the late: Domenic J. & Richard F. Cogliandro. She is also the dear mother-in-law of Pat & Irma Cogliandro, both of Salem, MA. Devoted Grandmother to: Marisa Vaughn & her husband Eric of Saugus, Michael R. Cogliandro & his wife Sarah of Salem, MA, Michael A. Cogliandro & his wife Stephanie of Cumberland, RI, Michelle Brewster & her husband Matthew of Portsmouth, NH, & Anthony S. Cogliandro of Saugus. She was the dear sister of the late: Anna Ali, Bruno, Hugo, & Nicholas Velona. She is also lovingly survived by her Great-Grandchildren, Adriana, Carina, Parker, & Connor, her brother-in-law, Sam Cogliandro & his wife Marianna of Revere, & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
