Antonio Albanese

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107),REVERE, for Antonio Albanese, who died on Sunday, June 4th at his Revere residence, following a three (3) year courageous battle with metastatic cancer. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 8th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Revere, he was an alumnus of Revere High School. He entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1944 & served until November of 1947, commissioned as a Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class. He would work as a production worker for Schrafft’s Candy Co. of Charlestown or about 8 years, before applying for work with the U.S. Postal Postal Service. Tony worked for 40 years plus as a mailhandler at the Airport Facility with the Postal Service until he retired in 1992. “Tony” had a welcoming large personality and a work ethic not to be surpassed! He was a long standing member of the V.F.W. Mottolo Post # 4524 and the National Organization of Disabled American Veterans (National Chapter). He was most proud of his associate’s degree from the Coyne Electrical Junior College of Boston.

He leaves his beloved & devoted wife of 66 years Grace L. “Lucy” (Desposito) Albanese & his adoring son Anthony P. Albanese & his wife Elizabeth J. “Liz” of Peabody. He is the cherished grandfather of Mary G. Albanese & her husband David J. Hodge of Danvers, James M. Albanese & his wife Cecilia of Revere & Bonnie-Jean O’Keefe & her husband Jason of Peabody. He is the dear brother of Vincenza “Vinnie” Joy of Revere & the late Raymond Albanese. He is also lovingly survived by his great-grandson Gavin A. Hodge of Revere & his two faithful nieces, Sandra Joy of Maine & Karen Joy of Revere & many other nieces & nephews. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

    On behalf of myself and my family, I would like to offer my condolences and sympathy. On the few occasions I was lucky enough to meet Mr Albanese, I found him to be warm, congenial, and a gentleman. I wish peace to him and to all those he leaves behind.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
