Attorney Robert F. Collins

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, October 23rd from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE, for Attorney Robert F. Collins, who passed following a five-year struggle and succumbing to the outrages of metastatic cancer disease. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, October 24th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 11:00 a.m. and immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born in Revere, he attended Revere Schools & was an alumnus of Revere High School. After serving with the U.S. NAVY, during the Korean Conflict, he entered the New England School of Law & received his Master’s in Criminal Defense. He worked as a Boston Criminal Defense Attorney for over 40 (forty) years within the Commonwealth. He held a gift for vocabulary and that subsequently afforded him a command of the language. He was a much sought-after Public Speaker, especially in the role of “Political Toastmaster”.

He was the beloved husband of the late Rose Zelpha (Chasse) Collins & the late Maryann (Adomunes) Cushing-Collins. He is the adored father to Katherine Rose Porter and her husband, Steven R. Porter of Rockland. He is the cherished brother of Kerry E. Haughney & her husband, Joseph F. Haughney of Lynnfield & the late Stephen F. Collins & George T. Collins. He is the dear uncle to George T. Collins, Jr. & his wife, Amy Pui-Collins of Winthrop, Christine E. Haughney-Dare-Bryan & her husband, Thomas H. Dare-Bryan of Larchmont, New York, Jonathan J. Haughney & Gretchen B. Haughney, both of Medford & Stephen F. Collins, Jr. & his wife, Carmen of Peabody. He was the proud son of the late George T. Collins & Katherine E. “Kitty” (Kerrins) Collins, former member of the Mass. Electoral College & the Revere School Committee.

Wednesday, October 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere

Interment

Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s’ Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
