Barbara J. (DiBiase) Cafarella

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, September 10th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere for Barbara J. (DiBiase) Cafarella, who died at her Saugus residence on Wednesday, September 6th following a three-year battle with lung cancer. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, September 11th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 478 Broadway, Everett at 11:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Revere, Barbara was a 1979 Graduate of Revere High School. After spending time in the work force, she returned to school and received her Bachelor’s degree from the School of Communications at Suffolk University in 1984. In 1989, she began her career with Panalpina World Transport & retired in 2015, as an International Air Express Agent, after 26 years of service. An intrinsically petite person, she was complemented in life with a “larger than life personality”. Her persona drew people to her for her charm, intelligence and sincerity. All through her early diagnosis with lung cancer, she maintained her strength and will to win. Her absence will be sorely missed at all levels. She leaves her husband & very best friend, Frank G. Cafarella. Barbara spent the most part of her life in the Beachmont section of Revere, until moving to Saugus, eight years ago. For many years, Barbara was her Mom’s close confidant & companion. They held the same interests in early American antiquities as well as a passion for collecting & displaying all the many collectable dolls from the  late 1770s thru present day. They rivaled any Department Store in Boston & New York, as the holidays rolled around, with their displays at their Beachmont home, and sharing them with so many extended family & friends.

She is the devoted sister to Susan J. Aufiero & her husband, Joseph of Randolph, Ellen J. Brunelle & her husband, Stephen J. of Newton, N.H. & the late Thomas P. DiBiase, Jr. She was the dear daughter to the late Revere Patrolman, Thomas P. DiBiase, Sr. & the late Florence M. (Sullivan) DeBiase. She is also lovingly survived by Stephanie C. Cafarella & Frank R. Cafarella, both of Everett & Matthew J. Cafarella of Saugus. Many dear nephews & nieces also survive her. Interment will be held immediately following the funeral mass at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

    Barb,
It’s been months now that you’ve been gone – I will never forget the time we spent together at work joking and having a great time. I have so many great things you gave me from your desk when you left us – that hammer, I always wanted your super cool hammer and I was lucky enough for you to offer it to me along with other things that I still have. But, that hammer will stay with me forever!
Every time i drive South St in Randolph to sister Susan’s house I think of you!
I sure do miss your laugh and smile, you were so strong through it all
I miss you Barb – until we meet again, I will always hold you in my heart!
    XoXo

My heartfelt condolences to Frank & his children, to Sue, Joe & the boys. Barbara was and will always be one of my dearest friends. One in a million, a beautiful person inside and out. Generous to a fault, forgiving of my many flaws, never uttering a harsh word about anyone. I don’t know how I will go on without ever hearing your voice on the phone again. I am comforted only in the fact that you will not suffer any more. Rest in peace. I know I will see you again.

    Love You, Corinne

Send your condolences.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
