Carmela A. “Auntie Mill” – “Millie” Petroccione

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday, January 31st from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE for Carmela A. “Auntie Mill”-“Millie” Petroccione, who passed on Thursday, January 25th ending a lengthy illness at Rosewood Nursing Care Center of Peabody. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Thursday, February 1st at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in East Boston, she was an alumna of the Class of 1943 at East Boston High School and with the prestige of “magna cum laude” (with highest honors). She immediately secured herself a position with Blanchard & Sons of East Boston, a bedding and mattress firm that had served the community for decades. She remained there for over 28 years as supervisor of their payroll. In the late 1960s, “Millie” would move on to the Law Firm of Warner & Stackpole of Boston, where she took the position as Lead Disbursement Clerk. In 1991, she retired and became a member of the Central Square Seniors of East Boston. As time moved-on, “Auntie Mill” took comfort in the company & adventures of her many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & nephews & great-grand-nephews and nieces. “Millie” became the adopted member of many old family friends, namely the Penta, Rodrigues, Rosa, Ryan & Vertuccio families; she was the quintessential go-to for all things trivia whether it be political, in the field of entertainment or family & extended family history –and she was always perfectly correct. Thank You, “Millie” for all the fun and joy you brought us, throughout these many, many years … it just wasn’t enough!!!

Millie was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph A. & Mary (Saitta) Petroccione & the dear sister to the late, Theresa A. Francis & Joseph E. Petroccione. She is the devoted sister-in-law to Annette M. Petroccione of West Peabody & the late Peter V. Francis, Sr. She is the cherished aunt of Peter V. Francis, Jr. & his wife, Donna of Beverly, Theresa Ryan & husband, Robert F. of West Peabody, Michael V. Francis of Beverly, Joseph E. Petroccione, Jr. & his wife, Gail of Danvers, Richard “Ricky” Petroccione & his wife, Debra of Beverly & Renee Paglia & her husband, Fred of Green Oaks, Illinois. Also lovingly survived by 12 grand-nieces & grand-nephews & 8 great-grand nieces & nephews.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
