Carmella (Orio) Spolsino
Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Wednesday, September 10th, 2014 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, beginning at 9 a.m. for Carmella (Orio) Spolsino, who passed on Sunday, September 7th following a long illness at the Courtyard Nursing & Rehab Center of Medford, at 92 years. Her funeral mass will follow the visitation in the Church of the Sacred Heart, 35 Brooks St., East Boston, at 11 a.m., followed by interment at the Massachusetts National VA Cemetery, Bourne. Born in Revere, she was educated there & was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1940. She came to East Boston over 60 years ago, following marrying Anthony M. Spolsino, who passed in July of 1988. Carmella worked in her early years for the former Honeywell Manufacturing Corporation. Later, she would become a certified homemaker, working for several of the local agencies & retiring at age 72 years. She lived briefly at East Boston Senior Housing (The Victory Gardens) before entering the nursing facility 10 months ago. She is the cherished mother of Michael A. Spolsino & his wife Elizabeth of West Peabody, & Frank Spolsino of East Boston. She is also the devoted grandmother of: Christopher Spolsino & his wife Danielle of Sandown, New Hampshire, & Michelle Stracqualursi & her husband Jason of West Peabody. She is the dear sister of Jean Cowhig of Chelsea & the late: Antoinette M. “Ann” Scarfo, Maryann Fahlstrom, & John, Peter, & Anthony Orio. She is also lovingly survived by her two twin great-grandsons, Matthew A. & Nathan M. Stracqualursi, & many nieces & nephews.
