Cecilio Silva

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, May 14th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt.107) REVERE for Cecilio Silva, who died on Saturday, May 8th at the Massachusetts General Hospital, following a brief illness, he was 88 years old. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Saturday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Face masks must be worn at all times and social distancing must be maintained in the funeral home.

Cecilio was a native to Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde where he was raised & educated. As a young man, he worked on his family farm before he left Cape Verde & moved to Brazil. In 1968, Cecilio came to the United States, settling in Dorchester and later relocating to Chelsea, where he remained until his death. Cecilio worked in manufacturing his entire working career. He worked for U.S. Gypsum in Charlestown as a supervisor for over 25 years. Cecilio was humble man with an extraordinary work ethic. He liked to watch his television shows and watch his beloved Yankees. All of his friends & family knew how much he loved the Yankees. He loved having a good time with friends & family and he also enjoyed having conversations & debates about political topics.

He is the beloved husband of Inacia (Ramos) Silva of East Boston. Cherished father of Cecil R. Silva of East Boston, Maria R. de Cruz & husband Antonio of Providence, RI, Nelson F. Ramos & wife Jessica & Armando Lopes, all of East Boston. Loving grandfather of 6 grandchildren. Dear brother of Julia Silva of Brazil, and the late Elci Silva, Yosi R. Silva, Antonio dos R. Silva, Eva Silva Rocha, Aida Silva, Maria dos Silva, Celestino Silva & Augusta Silva Almeida. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Last Call Foundation, 73 Elm St., Cohasset, MA 02025.

Visiting Hours

Face masks must be worn at all times & social distancing must be maintained in the funeral home. All attendees are required to provide their name and phone number for contact tracing and temperatures will be checked prior to entering the funeral home. Only 25 people are allowed in the Funeral Home at one time. Guests are asked to visit briefly and to exit the funeral home to allow others to enter.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
