Charles F. “Charlie” Murray

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Murray, CharlesHome for Funerals,773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE, for Charles F. Born & raised in Revere, he was a 1946 alumnus of Revere High School. He spent most of his working career, as a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service at the South Boston Postal Annex. There he made many friendships, which would last far into his retirement years. “Charlie” was a long-time member of the L-Street Brownies of South Boston, and an outstanding swimmer. He won several awards for his swimming. He was also a member of the Revere Knights of Columbus. He loved the outdoors, and all that it had to offer, in the realm of fitness and health. Besides being an outstanding Brother, Son, Husband, Father and Grandfather, he was a true & valued friend to many a neighbor. However, it would be incomplete, not to mention Charlie’s aptitude for superb garden maintenance and his love for flowers & manicured lawn sites. All this, he managed to do with his family home on the corner of Beach & Payson Streets, Revere, year after year, season after season. His floral displays were award winning and a joy to behold. Neighbors & friends would look forward to the next season, seeing what Charlie would do with his Garden. Charlie was never idle… on the contrary, idleness was not in his D.N.A. He loved being busy, in & out of the Garden, caring for his loving family and always lending a helping hand to a neighbor.

He is the beloved husband of almost 60 yrs.to Genevieve M. “Jennie” (Szarek) Murray. He is the cherished father of Charles P. “Chuck” & his wife Jacqueline of Newfields, New Hampshire & Christopher P. “Chris” Murray & his wife Darlene D. of Malden. He is the devoted Grandfather of Kayleigh M. Davis & her husband, Matthew of Exeter, NH., Melissa R. Murray of Newfields,N.H., Alexa J. & Nicholas J. Murray, both of Malden. He is also the faithful & dear brother to I. Patricia McDonough of Revere, John V. Murray of Amesbury, Richard P. “Skip” Murray of Wilmington & the late, Paul J. & Leo M. Murray. He is also lovingly survived by many caring nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of Charlie Murray. He’s now caring for the most beautiful garden of all in heaven.

I trust my Lord as he has proven, someday I’ll be with Him. Then I’ll look back and see a string as straight as my pure faith.

Send your condolences.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
