Christine L. (Barry) Murphy

Family & friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, March 17th, 2014 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, from 4 – 8 p.m. for Christine L. (Barry) Murphy, who died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13th at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, at 94 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 18th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m.  Mrs. Murphy was born & raised in Revere, & lived here all of her life before moving to Yarmouth Port with her daughter 5 years ago.  She was an alumna of Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1937.  She worked for over 40 years within the City of Revere as an accountant, first with the Auditor’s Department & finally within the School Department.  She worked until 1994.  She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community all of her life.  She was the beloved wife of the late John Patrick Murphy, who passed in September of 1963.  She is the devoted mother of Judith A. Murphy of Yarmouth Port, MA.  She was the dear sister to the late: Josephine M. Dunlea, Agnes J. Lucey, Helen, Alice, Ruth, & Rita M. Barry, & the late William, Robert, Francis & James Barry.  She is also lovingly survived by Mary F. Singleton of Yarmouth Port & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
