Dolores S. (DeSouza) Pires

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 13th in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) for Dolores S. (DeSouza) Pires, who died on Friday, December 29th at the Massachusetts General Hospital, following a brief illness. She was 87 years old.

Dolores was born in Long Island, New York and at young age the family moved & settled in East Boston and she was educated in Boston Public Schools. As a young woman, she worked various jobs until she married Joseph Pires, Jr. in 1953. The couple settled in Revere where they began and raised their family. Dolores was a dedicated housewife and a fastidious housekeeper. She took great pride in her home and cooking. She was an affectionate mother and loved her children immensely. Dolores was known for her beautiful voice and loved to sing while in her home. She was also loved by all of her nieces and nephews.

She is the beloved wife of the late Joseph Pires, Jr., Loving and devoted mother of Debra A. Pires, Steven A. Pires & Joseph C. Pires, III, all of Revere. Dear sister of the late Valentina M. Malta, Louis DeSouza, Mary Costa & Lena Short. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

    I am saddened to hear of Dolores Passing. She and Joe were the Nicest people and Great neighbors. The last time we met, was on the Boston to Bermuda Cruise and her and Val sang for all of us, one night. God Rest Her Soul and may all the beautiful memories and her love comfort you.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
