Donald F. Bennington, Sr.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Thursday, May 9th, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, for Donald F. Bennington, Sr., who died on Wednesday, April 24th at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home, Chelsea, following a long illness, at 84 years.  He was born & raised in Plainville, Indiana, lived there until joining the United States Navy in October of 1947 – September of 1951, & was discharged as a Radioman – 2nd Class.  He is a Navy Veteran of Korea.  He lived in Brockton & the Cape area, particularly Bourne, MA, until moving to Revere nine years ago.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #35 of Bourne, MA & American Legion Post #188 of Brockton.  He also belonged to the Marconi Club.  Most of his working career was as an Electrical Design Engineer, working for himself.  He is the beloved husband of the late Thelma (LaRoche) Bennington who died in July of 1971 & the late Emma (Principe) who died in May of 1999.  He is the Devoted Father of: Margaret “Peggy” Hathaway of Revere, Michael J. Bennington & his wife Cesidia of Newton, James W. Bennington & his wife Karen of Malden, Terry A. Waterman of Belmont, New Hampshire, & the late, Donald F. Bennington, Jr., who died in March of 1996.  He is also lovingly survived by 7 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, & by Millie Arthur, Robert Arthur, Elaine Lebeouf, their children & grandchildren.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: Patients’ Recreation Fund at Soldiers’ Home, 91 Crest Ave., Chelsea, MA 02150, Attn: John Davis.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
