Donald J. Arsenault, Sr.

Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, July 16th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway, REVERE for Donald J. Arsenault, Sr. He passed on July 11th following a lengthy illness. He was 86 years of age. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, July 17th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., PEABODY at 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Born and raised in Chelsea, he attended Chelsea schools. As a young boy, Donald possessed a strong work ethic and entered the work force at an early age. He married Jean A. (Iovine) and together the couple raised their family in Chelsea, before settling in Peabody. They had been residing in Peabody for the past 62 years. In 1968, Donald established the Acme Thread Company, Inc. in Lynn and he worked alongside his wife for many years, retiring at the age of 84. Donald was a generous and hardworking family man and his wife and children were paramount in his life. He lost his beloved wife, Jean A. (Iovine) Arseanult on June 3, 2018, only 44 days prior to his own passing, after sharing 66 wonderful years of marriage. Donald served as a Little League Coach in Peabody for a number of years and was a member of the Boston Boot & Shoe Club Association.

He is the devoted husband of the late Jean A. (Iovine) Arsenault. Cherished father to Donna Jean Colello & her husband Edward of Brewster, NY & Donald J. Arsenault, Jr. of Webster, NH. Proud grandfather to Nicholas A. Colello & wife Sarah of McKinney, TX, Christoper W. Colello & wife Danielle, Marianna E. Colello & LeighAnne Colello, all of Brewster, NY, Cory Arsenault of Dover, NH. Dear brother to Eleanor Hartigan of Saugus & her late husband, Michael, Marilyn DiFlumieri & husband, Carl of Stoneham, John Arsenault & his wife Joan of Leesburg, FL & the late Marie L. White-Shuman, James & his late wife Jacqueline Arsenault, Earl Arsenault & his late wife, Ann, Thelma Hurd & her late husband, George, Theresa Harris & Michael Arsenault & his late wife, Mary. He is also lovingly survived by his great-granddaughter, MacKenzie Jean, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Respected brother-in-law of Kendall Harris of CA, Helen Gilleberto & her late husband, Antonio & Ronald Iovine, all of Revere, Edith L. Iovine of ME & Barbara Ann Iovine of Revere & the late Richard A. Iovine, Robert E. Iovine, Louis R. Iovine.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
