Dorothy E. (Sokoloski) MacDonald

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 5th, beginning at 9 a.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith home for MacDonald, Dorothy.jpgFunerals , 773 Broadway (route 107) Revere, for Dorothy E. (Sokoloski) MacDonald, who died on Thursday, October 1st following a brief illness at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere.  The funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:15 a.m., in the funeral home, followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, W. Peabody.  Born & raised in Central Falls, RI. , the family came to live in Chelsea in 1932.  After marrying , David I. MacDonald in 1957 the couple moved to Revere’s Oak Island section.  Her husband David , died on February 28th, 2012.  She was schooled in Chelsea & was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1945.  She worked for the Jordan Marsh Co. & continued for over 30 years, as a cashier, sales person through the time of the Macy’s takeover, until retiring in 1992.  she was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Jordan’s – Macy’s , & later became a member of the “Red Hat” ladies of the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere, where Dorothy had been a resident for the past year.  She was the mother of the late David I. MacDonald, Jr.  & the late Lois E. MacDonald.  She was the sister of the late Mary Yaskerwich, Stanley & Joseph Sokoloski.  Dorothy leaves her devoted & caring nephew Gilbert “Gil” MacDonald & his wife Linda & their family of Melvin Village, NH. She is also lovingly survived by many other nieces & nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Patients Activities Fund at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center, 204 Proctor Ave. Revere, MA 02151.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
