Dorothy R. (King) Carey

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, October 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. pm in the Vertuccio & Smith, Cary, DorothyHome for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE, for Dorothy R. (King) Carey, who died following a brief illness on Monday, October 19th at the Rosewood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Peabody. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, October 26th at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), REVERE at 10:30 a.m.

She was born in Revere & lived her entire life in Revere, the last 53 years of which were spent at Point of Pines. Mrs. Carey graduated from I.C. High School in 1937, and shortly there after began working as a secretary in Boston.  However, after marrying Raymond E. Carey Jr., began raising her family of four. Mrs. Carey, was about family & the enjoyment of their presence. Her late husband, Raymond E. Carey Jr. was co-founder & operator of “KELLY’s” on REVERE BEACH and his father, the late Raymond E. Carey, Sr. was one of REVERE’s most popular Mayors. She was a long-time member of the Revere Women’s Club & a devotee of the former St. John Vianney Church in Point of Pines, Revere. Mrs. Carey has been hailed as a “woman of grace & style”, not only for her elegant persona, but for her striking appearance.

She is the devoted mother of, Maryellen Tortolano & her husband, Francis of Danvers, Raymond E. Carey, III & his wife, Dianne of Marblehead, Kathleen M. Barnes of Newton, NH., & Kevin M. Carey & his wife, Elizabeth of Manchester-by-the-Sea. She also leaves, her 10 adoring grandchildren & 17 great-grandchildren. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
