Edward F. “Buddy” Griffin

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, December 16th from 5 to 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, For Edward F. “Buddy” Griffin, who died on Dec. 12th after a long illness at the Lynn Union Hospital, Lynn. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wed. Dec.17th, followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, 8 Common St. Lynn. Followed by Interment in Mt. Benedict Cemetery Born & raised in Boston, the family later settled in Revere, where Buddy lived for over 50 years. He later moved to Lynn with his brother John C. “Jack” Griffin, for over 20 years, who was not just his brother but his advocate, caregiver & protector. Buddy became a resident at the Life Care Center of the North Shore for the past several years. Buddy was born “Special” and looked forward to the simple things in life, such as listening to music, enjoying many varieties of flowers and above all attending mass. It is well known that Buddy was Fr. Rossi’s Altar Boy who celebrated mass at Life Care Center. He is the cherished son of the late John C. Griffin & Sara “Sadie” (Horner) Griffin, loving brother of John C. “Jack” Griffin of Lynn. The beloved cousin of Joanne Chisholm & her husband James, Denise & Connor Antony, Charlene Palecki & James Chisholm all of Salem and the late Isabelle J. Geyson. . The family would like to acknowledge the tremendous care & love displayed while Buddy was a resident at Life Care Center of the North Shore. A special acknowledgement to Joanne & her daughter Jessica who were so helpful & loving in Buddy’s care. Also a heartfelt thank you the Nursing Staff, especially Catherine & Martin.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
