Edward T. & Eleanor M. (Valiante) McFarland

On July 23rd, 2012, Edward T. McFarland died after a lengthy illness at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Melrose.  His dear wife of 69 years, Eleanor M. (Valiante) McFarland, was a resident of Annemark Nursing Home, Revere, where they had both been.  She was unaware of his passing.  Eleanor died on November 23rd, 2012, exactly four months later, at Annemark peacefully & quietly.  Family & friends are invited to attend their Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, followed by entombment at Woodlawn Cemetery Chapel Building in the Narcissus Room, Everett.  Mr. McFarland was born in Framingham, raised in Charlestown, & attended Charlestown schools.  Most of his working career was spent with the former B&M RR (Boston & Maine Railroad), as a Policeman for them for over 45 years.  He also worked as a maintenance supervisor for the MBTA, retiring in 1985.  Mrs. McFarland was born in Boston, raised & educated in Somerville, & is an alumna of Somerville High School, Class of 1940.  For many years, she worked for the Somerville Hospital, as a Patients’ Advocate & Adjucator.  Mrs. McFarland was a longtime member of the Guild at the Italian Home for Children in Jamaica Plain.  Mr. & Mrs. McFarland lived most of their lives in Somerville, until coming to Revere in 1998 (15 years ago).  They are the beloved & devoted Parents of Lorna M. McFarland of Hudson, Florida & Lynne M. McFarland-Robison & her husband, David V. Robison of Revere.  They are the Cherished Grandparents of Edward M. Piscopo of Manchester, NH, David M. Piscopo & his wife, Priscilla of Salem, NH, & the dear Great-Grandparents of Brittany D. & Miranda L. Piscopo of Manchester, NH & Jessica L. & Angela Piscopo of Salem, NH.  Mrs. McFarland is the dear Sister of Constance Rando of Wilmington.  Mr. McFarland is the brother of the late: Henry McFarland & Margaret Bartera.  They are also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: St. Jude Childrens’ Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
