Eileen M. “Lovey” (Stuart) Lewey

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, August 18th in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Eileen M. “Lovey” Lewey (Stuart), who died at the home of her daughter, Linda, on Saturday, August 12th in North Falmouth. “Lovey” had made her home with her daughter for the past six and half years. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Saturday, August 19th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 11:00 a.m.

Born in Everett, she lived all of her life in Revere, before moving to the Cape six years ago. She was an alumna of Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1936 with the reward of Magna Cum Laude. Her early career was in the Shawmut Bank on Broadway, which she really enjoyed. In the 1930s & 1940s the Revere Theatre would sponsor New York producers, presenting “Talent Revues”. During that time, she would meet and fall head over heels over the “lead male vocalist”, Joseph E. Lewey of Library St., Revere (around the corner from where she lived on Elm St.) They were married in March of 1940 and Joseph died in March of 1978. “Lovey” worked at two of Revere’s landmarks, the Arcade Bazaar & the Revere Dog Track before moving onto Jordan Marsh Co. of Boston. There she was the “Matron” of the exclusive “Bridal Shoppe” for over forty years, retiring in 1993 at 76 years of age. She made many friends there, not only with her colleagues, but with the clients, she served. She was “in love” with her job and it defined her. She had the patience of a saint & the taste of a fine “courteor”. Many times she would receive wedding invitations from the girls she helped to select their wedding gown. “Lovey” was indeed the “quintessence” of “Family” & “Motherhood”, leading her to rank “the favorite” in all her circles of friends and family. She was an avid “Line Dancer” & belonged to a group for many many years in Revere. She was also a former member of the Ladies Sodality at I.C.C., the Maria Assunta Guild & was also a Eucharistic Minister for I.C.C. She was a member of the Jordan Marsh Quarter Century Club.

She is the cherished Mother to Joseph E. Lewey Jr. & his wife, Marie of Moorpark, California, Linda A. McDonagh & her husband, Francis P. of North Falmouth, Robert J. Lewey & his wife, Teresa of Athens, Tennessee & the late, Michael J. Lewey. She was the adored grandmother to David Lewey & his wife Leslie of Ventura, California, Karen Lewey of Albany, Oregon, Kim Lewey of Oxnard, California, Brian Lewey of Valencia, California, Gregg Lewey of Lynn, Dr. Jennifer Lewey, M.D. & partner Dylan Tisdale of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Stephanie Lewey of New York, Christopher & Todd Lewey, both of Florida & Amanda Lewey of Everett. She is also lovingly survived by Janice Jones of East Boston, 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. She is the beloved daughter to the late Eileen C. (Forrestall) Stuart & the late George E. Stuart & proud sister the late Edna F. Geary & her late husband, James W. Geary. Among her nieces & nephews, was the late former Revere Mayor, Robert J. Haas, Jr., who passed on July 3, 2017. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
