Ernest J. Caggiano
Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 21st, in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), Revere, beginning at 9:00 a.m. for Ernest J. Caggiano, who passed on Tuesday, November 17th at Wingate of Reading following a lengthy illness. Following the visitation, a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Born & raised in East Boston, he attended Boston schools. The family moved to Revere during the 1930s. In 1964, when Ernest married, Virginia R.(Marotta), they moved to Chelsea, where they remained. Virginia passed on October 17, 1996. Most of his working career was spent as a laborer, for the Local 22-Massachusetts Laborers’ Union. He spent a long association with the Giuseppe Mazzini Lodge Sons of Italy-Revere, where he had many many friends.
He is the cherished father of Karen M. Auffrey of Wakefield & Joyce A. Sicari of Wilmington. He is the adored grandfather of Thomas J. Auffrey, II of Wakefield. He also leaves his devoted sister, Jennie G. Mastascusa of Revere. He is the brother of the late, Antonetta Caggiano, Teresa D’Amico, Angelina Caggiano, Julia Condaro, Mary Fronduto, Ralph J. Caggiano, Michael F. Caggiano & Joseph Caggiano. He is also lovingly survived by his sister-in-law, Viola Caggiano of East Boston & his brother-in-law, James D’Amico of Saugus, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. He is the son of the late Aussilio & Carmella (Selvitella) Caggiano.

Uncle Ernie was a kind and caring person. He was very close to my mother Julia. He was always good to us kids growing up. I will miss him.
