Esther A. (Guidi) Lasota

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday October 7th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Lasota, EstherSmith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (rte107), Revere, for Esther A. (Guidi) Lasota, who died unexpectedly on Saturday,October 3rd at Tuft’s Medical Center in Boston. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, October 8th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) ,REVERE at 10:30AM.,followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Chelsea, she was a 1959 alumna of St. Rose Catholic High School for Girls of Chelsea–and we might add, mighty proud of that accomplishment. After marrying Stephen Anthony Lasota, Sr., of Chelsea, she moved to Revere in 1962 , where she remained until moving “full-time” to Dennisport in 2009. The family had a summer residence in Dennisport, where their family of five children, nine
grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins et aliae and of course the Princess 0livia & the Prince Luke, thrived. In 1967, Esther & her husband, Stephen opened DeKel-Lasota Insurance Agency on Broadway, Revere. Stephen died in 1993 & Esther & her sons maintained the business to 1997. Esther was a tennis enthusiast, and member of the former Colonial Tennis Club of Lynnfield, the Mid-Cape Racquet Club & the Locario Tennis Club in West Harwich, Ma. As a teenager, Esther developed an athletic ability as a member of the former, St. Rose Drum & Bugle Corps of Chelsea. Above & beyond her passion for tennis, was her role as “Super MOM & Grandma”.

 

She is the devoted mother of Stephen A. Lasota, Jr.& his wife, Kathy A. of Fairfield, Ct., Michelle A. Spears & her husband, Rob of Dennisport, Ma & St.Augustine, Fl., Matthew M. Lasota & his wife, Julie of Dennisport, Ma.& St. John’s -VIRGIN ISLANDS, Allison E. Melvin & her husband, James of Maddison, N.J.,& Heather M. Lasota of Greensville, So.Carolina. She is the Cherished Grandmother of, Erica A. Menard & her husband,Leon of Atlanta,Ga., Matthew C. Lasota of Woburn, Andrew S. Lasota of New York City, Alec J. Lasota of Harwich,Ma., Ashley S. Lasota of Fairfield,Ct., Shane M. Lasota of St. John’s Virgin Islands, Jack S., Colin & Liam Melvin all of Maddison, New Jersey. She is the dear Sister to Paul Guidi of Palm Desert,Ca., Elaine Sullivan of Stoneham, James W.Guidi & his wife,Deborah of Lynn, Rita Pezzuto & her husband, Richard of Dennisport,Ma. She is also lovingly survived by her two (2) great-grandchildren, Olivia & Luke Menard, many nieces,nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

    I have known Esther during my summer time on the tennis court with her at Locarno’s tennis club. Her smile, energy , love for family, and caring for each and every player on and off the court was a gift to all of her fellow tennis players. She will be deeply missed .

    I have known Esther since we were tennis opponents on the North Shore, and then again, when we were here on Cape Cod. Her laidback personality was a magnet to all who knew her, as well as her compassion for others. All of us here will miss her.
    My sincerest condolences to her family.

    Our deepest sympathies to Esther’s family. She had a special spirit that was contagious. She made everything about having fun and I have so enjoyed our years together on the courts at Locarios. That’s not to say she didn’t enjoy winning as well! I will miss her very much.

    My life will forever be a better one, because you were a part of it. You were always more than a friend to me, you treated me like I was one of your own children.
