Eugene J. “Gene” “Hippo” Capozzi

Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, April 26th in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway Capozzi, Eugene 2
(Route 107), REVERE, beginning at 9:00 a.m. for Eugene J. “Gene” “Hippo” Capozzi, who died at his Revere home, on Friday, April 22nd, following a lengthy illness. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation on Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Born & raised in Revere, he lived his entire life here in Revere & was a 1949 Alumnus of Revere High School. In 1952 (January) he joined the US ARMY, during the Korean Conflict, serving until Jan. of 1954, as a member of the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team Special Forces. He attended Boston University, seeking an associates in Business Administration & then continued onto Northeastern University to to secure a Bachelor of Science. “Gene” went to work for RAYTHEON CORP in 1963, as a Design Engineer & remained there until 1972. In 1981, he and his son-in-Iaw, Steven J. Pasquale, founded JAGUAR REALTY CORP. of Revere. “Gene” enjoyed the real
estate business, immensely & naturally had the perfect personality to accommodate his position. “Jaguar Realty” is still in operation. Later, after formal retirement, unable to “relax”, he secured a position as a salesman with “SYM’S MENS WEAR” in Peabody. Always an impeccable dresser, he was most comfortable in his new found vocation. “Gene”-“Hippo” began a gradual health decline in 2005, shortly after the death of his beloved spouse, Gloria M.(Cardillo) Capozzi, who passed on October 17,2004. After residing in Point of Pines for over 40 years, he sold the family home & moved with his daughter & son-in-law to their home. He is the devoted father of Mark G. Capozzi & his wife, Penelope of Derry , N.H.& Carla M. Pasquale & her husband, Stephen J. of Revere. He is the cherished grandfather of Gianna M. Pasquale of Revere & Brittany W. Capozzi of Derry, NH. He is also the dear brother of Robert Capozzi & his wife, Marion of Swampscott & the late Gilda Hourihan & Edith Kelley. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
