Francis W. “Franny” Hyland, Jr.

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, hyland-francisHome for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Francis W. Hyland, Jr., who passed unexpectedly on Monday evening, November 21st at the Tufts’ Medical Center of Boston. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, November 26th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. , REVERE at 10:00 a.m.

Raised in Winthrop, he attended school there & was a 1963 alumnus of Winthrop High School. He continued his education at Newbury College & was awarded an Associate’s degree in Business Management. “Franny” as he was affectionately known, enlisted with the U.S. Navy in September of 1965 & served until August of 1971 as an Electrician’s Mate 1st Class. For over 20 years, he had a working career as a Master Electrician with the former “General Ship” in East Boston. He later became involved with Revere City Government & served for over 15 years as a Health Inspector for the City of Revere. After retiring from Revere City Hall, he worked as a dispatcher for Complete Cleaning of Lynn, for about five years. He lived in Revere for about 42 years, before moving to Lynn 3 years ago. He was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish of Revere & a member of their Holy Name Society.

He is the beloved husband of 44 years to Diane G. (Ysusi) Hyland. He is the cherished father of Kimberly L. Perry & her husband, Vance Perry of Marblehead & Miss Kelli A. Hyland & her companion, Bill Adams of Lynn. He was the dear brother of the late, Suzanne McCarthy. He is also lovingly survived by his brother-in-law, Ed McCarthy & his family of Billerica. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
