Franklin S. Osgood, Sr.

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, October 23rd, 2014 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, beginning at 9 a.m. for Franklin S. Osgood, Sr., who died unexpectedly at his Marshfield residence on Saturday, October 18th at 72 years.  His funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home following the visiting hours, at 11:30 a.m., followed by interment in the Massachusetts National Cemetery (VA) in Bourne, MA.  Born & raised in Revere, he is a 1959 alumnus of Revere High School.  He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in January of 1963 & served as a corporal (E-4), & was honorably discharged on February 9, 1965.  Mr. Osgood began working for White Fuel of Chelsea, in 1965 & spent almost 40 years with the firm as a senior Oil Burner Technician.  He is a Teamster & a member of Local #25.  He was also a longtime member of the Broadsound Tuna Club of Revere.  He left Revere in 1994 & moved to Marshfield.  He is the beloved father of: Christine Osgood-Yanelli of Middleton, Franklin S. Osgood, Jr. & his wife Tracey of Peabody, Brian Osgood & his wife Charlotte of Revere, & Derek Osgood & his wife Tara of Salem.  He is the dear brother of Muriel “Mickey” Rosen & her husband Newell of Lake Worth, Florida, Jerry Osgood of Chelsea & the late: Gilbert & Theresa Osgood.  He is also lovingly survived by his former companion, Judy Johnson, her children Victoria & Bert Johnson, all of Marshfield, & his 10 devoted grandchildren & many nieces & nephews.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
