Gene A. “Geno” Vadala

Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday, December 13th at the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE, beginning at 9:00 a.m., for Gene Anthony “Geno” Vadala who passed after a brief illness at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family. His funeral will follow the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, with a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), REVERE, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Boston’s North End, he was schooled there and settled there with his beloved wife, Marie “Chickie” (Arigo) Vadala, with whom he shared fifty years of marriage and who passed in Sept. of 2000. The couple left the North End in 1967 and moved to Revere where they spent the remainder of their lives. Geno was most proud to have served for 34 years, with the US Postal Service at the GPO of the U.S. Post Office in Post Office Sq., Boston, as letter carrier.

Geno is the cherished father of Mark J. Vadala of Saugus, Gene Vadala & his wife, Erin of Rowley, Thomas J. Vadala of Marblehead & Sandra M. Chesna & her husband, John of Revere. He is the devoted Grandfather of Owen Vadala of Rowley, Dominic & Thomas Chesna, both of Revere. He is the dear brother of Santa Zagami of Watertown & the late John Vadala. He is also lovingly survived by his adoring niece, Victoria Zagami of Watertown and cousin, Marie Serino of Revere. He shared a most tender relationship with his canine companion “Toby”.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
