Gerald R. Spears

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, October 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE for Gerald R. Spears, who died following a long & debilitating illness on Tuesday, October 2nd at the Medford Rehabilitation & Nursing Center. His Memorial Funeral Service will be held following the visitation on Saturday, October 13th at 2:15 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment will be private.

“Jerry” lived most of his life in the Oak Island Section of Revere. He was a 1970 alumnus of Revere High School. Early on in his career, he worked Revere Beach as a clam digger and did exactly what he wanted to do and was most happy. Always interested in automobiles, he attended Auto Mechanics School & for the remainder of his working career, he worked for several of the local Auto Garages and Repair Centers. He was a long-time member of Revere’s “Broadsound Tuna Club”.

He is the beloved son of Ralph R. MacAllister, Sr. of Oak Island Revere & the late Denise E. (Botticelli) Spears-MacAllister. He is the dear brother to Darlene Best of Somerville, Muriel Spears of Provincetown, Beverly Dares & her husband, Al of Ossipee, New Hampshire, Timothy Spears & his wife, Diane of Davie, Florida, Denise E. MacAllister of Wakefield, Samuel R. MacAllister of Revere, Billy-Joe MacAllister of Chelmsford & the late Stephen Spears, E. Russell MacAllister, Ralph R. MacAllister, Jr. & Anthony P. MacAllister. He is also the loving father of Anthony, Marissa, Kara, Christopher, Kristen & Lisa. He leaves 9 Grandchildren as well & many nieces & nephews.

Saturday, October 13th at 2:15 p.m. in the funeral home

Interment

Will be Private

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
