Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Hector H. Jalbert, who died on Thursday, April 25th at the Lighthouse Nursing Center after a brief illness, at 94 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, April 29th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born & raised in Salem, MA, he attended Salem schools & entered the United States Coast Guard in January of 1942, serving until September of 1945.  Hector spent all of his life as a commercial truck driver, working mostly for Local #25 of which he was a long-time member.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post #61 of Revere.  He has been a Revere resident for over 60 years.  He is the beloved husband of 68 years to Elizabeth A. “Lee” (Scarpetti) Jalbert.  He is the devoted father of, Leslie A. Parechanian & her husband Dale F. of Revere, & the late, Sharon E. DeRenne.  He is also the cherished Grandfather of, Kristen A. DeRenne-Travelo & her husband George M. of Reading, & Janelle M. & Justin M. Parechanian both of Revere.  He is also lovingly survived by his great-granddaughters, Maddison R. & Autumn L. Travelo of Reading, & his son-in-law, Lawrence L. DeRenne of Reading, & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  He is the dear brother of the late: Albert, George & Armand Jalbert, Julia Tremblay, Lillian Lebrun, & Delia Michaud.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: “One Fund Boston,” 800 Boylston St. #990009, Boston, MA 02199 (www.onefundboston.org).

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
