Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, January 31st from 9 – 11 a.m. in The Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (route 107) Revere for Henry F. “Rico” Barone, who passed away peacefully with his loving family around him at 85 years after a brief illness. A funeral service will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m.. Rico was born in the North End of Boston, his family later settled in the Jeffries Point section of East Boston. He was educated in the Boston Schools & attended Boston English High School. Like many people of his generation, he had to leave school to help support the family. In 1951 Rico enlisted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. After proudly serving his country, Rico returned home March of 1953, he would wed his long time sweetheart, Lillian J. Garisto. They were married June of 1953. The couple settled in East Boston an soon began their family. During this time Rico was employed at Keystone Manufacturing in Dorchester, for nearly 20 years. He then began his career with the U.S. Postal Service, as a “Mail Handler”. Rico was known a dedicated family man, he loved being with his family and enjoying the time they shared together, but above all he loved being a grandfather & great grandfather. He is the devoted husband of Lillian J. (Garisto) Barone of Revere. He is the loving father of Linda M. Fogarty of Melrose & her late husband William Fogarty & Michael L. Barone & his wife Ann of Methuen. The cherished grandfather of Dale R. Cibene & his wife Allison, Danielle M. Farnsworth & Michael L. Barone all of Melrose & Lisa A. Barone of Methuen. He is the adored grandfather of Ella, Izzy, Will & Luke. He is the beloved brother of Vincent Barone & his wife Dorothy of Brockton and the late Minzy Barone, Louis “Chickie” Barone & Elisa Derby. Also lovingly survived by several nieces & nephews. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery (Middleton). Late Korean Army Veteran. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, MA & NH Chapter 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.

    My Grandfather was a wonderful man. I miss him so much. We were all very lucky to share some of our greatest memories together as a family with Papa Rico always laughing and smiling. I love you, Papa.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
