Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 6th from 4 to 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (route 107) Revere, for Henry L. Olsen, who died following a long illness at the Lighthouse Nursing Center of Revere on Tuesday, March 4th.  The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody. Born in Lynn, Mr. Olsen was a life long resident of Revere’s Oak Island Section.  A graduate of Revere High School in 1943, he went onto join the U.S. Navy in August of 1943, serving until April 19, 1946.  In 1954 he began his 34 year career with the Revere Fire Department, retiring as Captain in 1988.  Henry was a long – time member of the V.F.W. Post #6712 of Beachmont & National Association of D.A.V..  He leaves behind his wife of sixty years, Dorothy M. (Jacobs) Olsen of Revere.  He is the devoted father of, James G. Olsen & his wife Joyce of Newburyport, Karen S. DeVincentis & her husband Carl of Rowley, Susan M. Olsen of Revere & Dr.Nancy R. Olsen – Waldron, PhD. & her partner John O’Brien of Winthrop.  He is the cherished grandfatherof Randy Waldron, of Manhattan, NY, James G. Olsen, Jr. of Newburport, Lawrence J. Scaglione, IV. Of Munson & Michelle C. DeVincentis of Rowley.  He is also the dear brother of Arthur S. Olsen & his wife Florence , Eunice “Bunny” King, Helen Greene & her husband John, Virginia “Ginger” Tuite & her husband Thomas all of Revere, Sigrid “Dolly” Vazza of Saugus & the late, Ralph A. Olsen, Leonard O. Olsen, Eleanor Sullivan, Lillian Glass- Uhr & Rudolph Olsen.  He is lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.  In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: The Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
