James “Jamie” Delmonte

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, April 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere for James “Jamie” Delmonte who died on Thursday, March 24th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a very long illness, he was 66 years old.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 2nd at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen at 11:00 a.m. Please meet directly at church. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.

Jamie was born & raised in Everett. He was the son of Primo & Helen (Tenerelli) Delmonte. He was educated in Everett Public Schools and was an alumnus of Everett High School, Class of 1973. He began a career in the trades as a carpenter working with his brother, Paul at his company Del’s Home Improvements. He worked there for several years, before taking a Salesman position at Steven’s Auto Sales. Jamie was much happier working with his hands, and he took a position as a carpenter with the M.D.C. which later became DCR. His career spanned 32 years and he retired as a supervisor in 2018.  During this time, Jamie’s most important aspect of his life began when he married his wife, Paula Lentini, on November 17, 1979. The couple remained in Everett later moving to Methuen. Jamie and his wife raised their two sons there. He was very active in youth sports and coached all his son’s teams for many years. He also enjoyed spending time on Cape Cod at their summer home. There, he would spend his time with his family on their boat and enjoying water activities with his boys. Anyone who knew Jamie, knew that he was intrinsically mechanically inclined, and he could build or fix anything. He always felt better when he fixed something, knowing it was done properly. Jamie also, like many of us, was a “Devoted Boston Sports Fan”, whenever he watched a game, he was invested until the very end, living & dying with every win or loss.  Jamie was a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus of Methuen, Council #4027. Over the past 10 years, Jamie’s health declined, little by little, but he enjoyed the love and support from his loving & caring family who were always by his side along the way.

He is the devoted & cherished husband of Paula A. Lentini – Delmonte of Methuen. Loving & proud father of Michael J. Delmonte & his companion Stephanie Cannon & Matthew P. Delmonte & his fiancée Jamie Raccosta, all of Methuen. He is the dear brother of Don W. Delmonte & his wife Angela & Paul S. Delmonte & his wife Karen, all of Cape Coral, FL. Treasured brother-in-law of Margaret M. Lentini – Cook of Atkinson, NH & her late husband Terry Cook. He is also lovingly survived by his former sister-in-law Diane Walker of Quincy & the late Linda Delmonte & many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, & grandnephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 209 West Central St., Natick, MA 01760.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
