Jane M. (Sweeney) Cox

Funeral Services & Interment were held privately for Jane M. (Sweeney) Cox, who died on Wednesday, July 1st, at her home in Revere following a 2-year battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer, she was 67 years old.

Jane was a born in Winthrop and was raised in East Boston. She was educated in Boston Public Schools and was an alumna of East Boston High School, Class of 1971. Jane took a position with the M.S. Walker Liquor Distributors as a young woman and it turned into a career that spanned over 40 years. Jane was forced to retire due to her failing health. In 1991, Jane moved to Revere and would later marry her longtime companion, John P. “Jack” Cox., Unfortunately, only 2 years after their marriage, John passed on November 6th, 2004. Jane was an active member of the Revere Lodge of Elks, #1171 where she was Exalted Ruler & an Honorary Lifetime Member. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Beachmont V.F.W. Post #712 in Revere. Jane was active and always brought forth the best in everyone around her. She was a kindhearted person who looked for the best in everyone. She loved to have a fun and enjoyed many celebrations. Her hard work with the Elks in whatever fundraiser or awareness they were promoting always ended up being a memorable celebration in which she always loved being a part of. Jane was also part of a very large family that she was always proud of from her 7 siblings and all of her many nieces & nephews. The celebrations with her family is what they will miss most about her presence. Jane loved life and lived it with enthusiasm and complete selflessness.

A celebration of life observance will be held at a later time once it is safer to gather.

She is the devoted daughter of Charlotte (St. Croix) Sweeney of East Boston & Revere & the late Charles J. Sweeney of East Boston & Revere. Beloved wife of the late John P. “Jack” Cox. Treasured sister of the Susan Leary and husband Dennis Sr., of Malden, formerly of East Boston, Charles Sweeney Jr. and wife Terri of Billerica, William Sweeney of Revere, Gerald Sweeney and wife Susan of Sharon, Francis X. Sweeney of Winthrop, Mary (Sweeney) Pappas and husband James”Jimmy” Sr. of Essex and the late Charlene Sweeney of East Boston. Cherished Aunt of Dennis Leary Jr., David Leary, Maureen (Leary) DelGreco, Charles Sweeney III, Sara (Sweeney) Vincelette, Tina Sweeney, Brian Sweeney, Caitlyn Sweeney, Conor Sweeney, James Cole, James Pappas Jr. and Brianna Pappas. She is also lovingly survived by many loving grandnieces, grandnephews and many friends & extended family.

May Jane rest in eternal peace in the arms of her true love, Jack



Funeral Services were Private. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
