Jean M. (Cinelli) Russo

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 28th, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Jean M. (Cinelli) Russo, who died on Tuesday, September 25th at Eastpointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Chelsea, following a long illness, at 89 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, September 29th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in Sacred Heart Church, East Boston at 11 a.m.  Born & raised in East Boston, she attended East Boston Schools & was a 1941 alumna of East Boston High School.  She retired as the “first female” security guard at Boston’s Prudential Center.  Prior to that position, Jean worked for over 20 years at New England Coffee, Boston.  Jean’s first love was her faith, followed by her devotion to family, relatives & friends.  She always held an unusually positive attitude in the face of adversity.  She was the wife of the late Joseph Russo, who died in April of 2000.  She is the devoted mother of, Philip J. Russo & his wife, Rita (Piantedosi) Russo, & the cherished grandmother of, Philip J. Russo, Jr. & his fiance, Lisa Longo, & Desiree M. Bender & her husband, Matthew B. Bender & the adoring Great-Grandmother of Matthew B. Bender, Jr., all of Revere.  She is also lovingly survived by her brother-in-law, Dr. Salvatore Russo & his late wife, Mary of Denton, Texas & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  She is the Dear Sister of: Armand Cinelli of Quincy, Rosemarie DelPrato of Wakefield & the late, James & Vincent Cinelli, & the late, Nina Piazza, Josephine Economou, Pauline Natale, Marguerite Rivers, Helen Malcalvo & Olga Cinelli.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: Susan B. Komen – For the Cure of Breast Cancer, 89 South St., Boston, MA 02111, or to the: MSPCA – Angell, 350 So. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130-9923.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
