Joan (Sharpe) McBain

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, May 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Joan (Sharpe) McBain, who passed on Friday, May 17th at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House of North Reading, following a long illness. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home, on Tuesday, May 21st at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 10:30 a.m. and immediately followed with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born in Cambridge, she came to live in Revere over 70 years ago. She was an alumna of St. Rose High School, Class of 1956. Her entire career and life were consumed by her family’s needs and in fulfilling them to perfection. Joan possessed an unassuming personality with an abundance of love that she shared to many. 

She is the beloved wife of 54 years to Richard M. McBain, Sr. Cherished mother of Karen M. Arneil & husband Scott J. of Melrose, Kelley A. Settipane of Revere, Michelle E. Robinson & husband James of Methuen & Richard M. McBain, Jr. & wife Colleen D. of North Reading. Cherished grandmother of James F. & Ryan J. Arneil, both of Melrose, Alisha C. & Martino R. Settipane, both of Revere, Zachary J. Robinson of Methuen, Matthew R., Brendan J. & Erin M. McBain, all of North Reading. Dear sister of the late Frederick Sharpe. Also lovingly survived by her sister in law, Kathleen “Kathy” (Skiffington) Sharpe of Revere & several nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours

Monday, May 20th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass

Tuesday, May 21st at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Revere

Interment

Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Sawtelle Family Hospice House, Gift Processing Center, 41 Mall Rd., Burlington, MA 01805.

    We are sending our deepest sympathy to Richard and their family. We will miss our conversations at the 4PM Mass and miss seeing you. Our little group was deeply sadden when we heard the news. Frank and I were up to Maine. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
