Joao AKA John Luis Rodrigues

Formerly of Revere & Madeira, Portugal, in Wakefield, April 23rd following a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of 42 years to Maria Isabel (daSilva) Rodrigues. Dear brother of Branca Luisa Rodrigues of Lisbon, Portugal & the late George Jose Luis Rodrigues & the late Jose Manuel Rodrigues. Caring brother-in-law to Maria Delta daSilva of Revere & Maria Zezina Ferreira of Wakefield, formerly of Revere. Cherished uncle to Ana Paula daSilva of Revere, Maria Deise daSilva  & her husband Roger of Lowell, Andreia Sacca & her husband Joseph of Wakefield, Henry J. Ferreira of Ft. Lauderdale, FL & Barbara & Ariana Rodrigues of Lisbon, Portugal.  He is the proud granduncle to: Jessica, Christopher, Fabio, Cassandra, Chauntelle, Dion & Jaxson. Also loving survived by 2 great grandnephews: Elias & Lorenzo.

Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wed., Apr. 28th in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE from 4-7 p.m. & immediately followed with the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 7:15 p.m. Parking available left of the funeral home. Entombment will be held privately at the Sheffield Bldg. at Woodlawn Community Mausoleum, Everett.

Face masks must be worn at all times & social distancing must be maintained in the funeral home. All attendees are required to provide their name and phone number for contact tracing and temperatures will be checked prior to entering the funeral home. Only 25 people are allowed in the Funeral Home at one time. Guests are asked to visit briefly and to exit the funeral home to allow others to enter.

John was a longtime member of the Empire of the Holy Ghost (a Portuguese fraternal organization) & a past Business Agent for Local #26 (Hotels & Restaurants). John was most proud of his military service rendered to his fatherland, Portugal as a Sergeant in the Portuguese Army, stationed in India for over 5 years.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., 309 Waverly Oakes Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
