John F. Errera

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, January 8th from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Keefe Funeral Home, 5 Chestnut St. ,Arlington, for John F. Errera, who died on Tuesday, January 3rd, at the Mt. Auburn Hospital of Cambridge, unexpectedly. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, January 9th at 10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Agnes Church, Medford St. , Arlington at 11:30 a.m.

John was born & raised in Arlington, lived his entire life there & was a 1967, alumnus of Arlington High School. He also attended University of Massachusetts at Lowell, majoring in Computer Science. He spent his early career as a High Tech computer analyst for Jordan Marsh Co. 0f Boston for over 10 years. Later he would specialize in contract work as a computer programmer for random companies. He retired in 2011, as a contract programmer for Gillette Co. John’s true legacy was his acumen & true love of all things, Boston sports, especially the Patriots & the Bruins. His perfect attendance to games, etc is legendary. His extended family of sports’ enthusiasts is historic, and the memorabilia he has acquired is enviable. John is a proud founding member of the “Friends of Arlington Hockey”, a “Booster Club” for raising funds for the members of the Arlington Hockey team, a special favorite of John’s charities.

John was the beloved son of the late Peter F. Errera, Sr. & Emma (Mosconi) Errera. He is the devoted brother of Peter F. Errera Jr. of Arlington, with whom John Made his home, Katherine A. “Katie” VanDorp & her husband, Adrian E. of Marblehead & the late Nancy M. Bostley. John is the cherished cousin of Mary M. (McCabe) & David J. MacKenzie & their daughter, Atty. Meghan K. MacKenzie, all of Wayland. Also lovingly survived by many other cousins, his brother-in-law, Paul G. Bostley of Marblehead & an extended family of sports’ enthusiasts. Interment will be in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
