John F. LoVerme
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for John F. LoVerme, Jr. who passed on Friday, October 3rd at Massachusetts General Hospital, after a lengthy three year battle with Pancreatic Cancer. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, October 7th at 9 a.m.. followed by a funeral mass in Holy Rosary Church, 1015 Shirley Street Winthrop at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody. A native East Boston, he attended Boston schools & was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1970. He was also an alumnus of the prestigious Wentworth Institute, Class of 1974. John worked within the network of various engineering corporations & lastly at Samtan Engineering Corp. He was there for over ten years, until his debilitating illness forced him to remain home, a year ago. Medically, John became a veritable miracle, not only surviving but thriving for almost a year during his three year diagnosis. The entire cancer team at MGH & the extraordinary tenacity of his wife and daughters are to be praised for John’s courage to pursue any & all forms od traditional & naturalistic protocols. John’s talents went far beyond his professional engineering accomplishments. For over 35 years, his avocation in life, was as a fine furniture designer & contractor. Although, he credited his late father in law, Louis J. Carco, as his mentor, John certainly had an intrinsic talent for working with wood. For years, he was responsible for many original designs of furniture creations that he gave as gifts. His artistic style was distinct & authentic. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Pauline L. (Carco). He is the cherished father to: Jessica D, LoVerme of Revere & Jenna D. LoVerme of Saugus. He is the dear brother of Lucille LoVerme of East Boston & his twin brother Charles LoVerme & his wife Stella of Medford. He is also lovingly survived by his wife’s family, The Carco Family of Malden, Saugus, West Peabody & Cape Cod and many nieces & nephews. He is the son of the late John F. LoVerme, Sr. & Edith (Luiso) LoVerme.
As I’m sitting here in NH with my dear friend Pauline and Edie were reminiscing about our lives I wanted to write something about my friend Woody. Johnny was a unique guy who I loved dearly.
I remember meeting him when he was 21 and he came to my apartment with Pauline I was doing Decopage and he was interested in my work and we always talked about what we did from then on.
I will never forget how he and Pauline got me a saw toothed blade for my miter saw for Christmas one year.
I was friendly with the family for over 40 years now,I know his two children and love them as if they were my own I took pictures of them from birth till now.
Pauline and I have ben friends forever, she is a great person with the best sense of humor I know, we laugh all the time, she always
try and feed me when ever I see her, I just love her.
It’s been almost a year and I still miss you I picture you in you PJ’s sitting on the front step waiting for your Friday card from me.
RIP my dear friend.
I have been the Loverme family’s next door neighbor for over 35
Years. John always had a smile & always neatly dressed & that silver hair groomed. Couldn’t have asked for better neighbors. Throughout his illness I witnessed the devotion to John. I will miss him & our chats on their deck this summer. I am so grateful for the memories. Now he is truly Johnny Angel.
