John T. Hegarty

Family & friends are invited to visit with family on Sunday, January 13th beginning at 12 noon in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere for John T. Hegarty, who died unexpectedly at his Randolph residence on January 3rd.  His funeral service will be conducted in the funeral at 1:00 p.m.. Mr. Hegarty suffered an Acute Myocardial Infarction, upon returning from working the niteshift at Stop & Shop (Thursday January 3rd),  He had worked for  Stop & Shop as a foreman for the past four years.  Prior to that time, he worked in the roofing industry and for many years, worked with “Angelo’s Roofing” of Revere.  john was an avid boater and enjoyed his time on the ocean, sailing the harbor.  He is the beloved and faithful husband for 29 years to Lee M. (Frieder) of Randolph, He is the devoted brother to: Kathleen M. Walsh and Maureen A. Alinkonis both of Winthrop and the late Michael J. Hegarty.  He is the dear uncle of: Stefani Kosinski of Chelsea, Dianna (Walsh) of San Dieago, CA, Daniel & Andrew Walsh both of St. Petersburg, FL and Christopher, Nicholas & Ryan Alikonis all of Tewksbury.  He is the brother – In law of: Maryann Hegart of Revere , Ellen Spicuzza of Canton,  Laurance Walsh of Winthrop and Stephen Alikonis of Tewksbury.  He is the caring nephew of Robert o. Hegarty  & his wife Patricia of Tewksbury, Maryanne Giglio and her husband Roger of Revere,  Eileen M. Hegarty of New Bedford and the late Kevin M. Hegarty.  He was the beloved son of the late: John T. Hagerty, Sr. & Ruth (Liston) & the grandson of the late: Timothy & Anne T. On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
